Hodge and Koko challenge each other to do as many jobs as possible, with the chugger doing the most winning; however, Hodge only seems to be finding things that need fixing by Eddie that technically don't need fixing. At the end of the day, it's a draw; but Hodge magnetised Eddie's guitar, and now it's in tune; so Hodge wins!
Calley is training the Trainees for their Rescue Badge. Brewster and Zephie are practising using the crane car, and Zephie falls over, pretending to be hurt, but Brewster doesn't control the crane properly, and goes back to the depot sad. Chatsworth is on the mainline and his hopper brakes seize on a hill, and Brewster is the only one who can help - and rushes to Chatsworth's rescue with the water car.
Dunbar is training the trainees to use the new Painting wagons, and Wilson can't paint properly, and accidentally paints a moustache on Dunbar! Old Puffer Pete takes him to Old Chuggington to practise. Wilson tries to find the others, but can't, so paints his shed door instead, painting a butterfly that landed on the roof. Chatsworth comes by, and says that he can't paint it. However, Chatsworth finds him something to paint - Dunbar, Koko, Wilson and Brewster on the depot wall!
Brewster, Koko and Wilson are training going backwards, and Wilson chooses the Fire truck. Wilson has trouble completing the task, and Harrison says to go slow. However, Wilson thinks it was the opposite and falls off the track. Morgan then fits Wilson with Wing Mirrors, and is thought off as being cool by Brewster and Koko.
Old Puffer Pete takes his wagon, called Terry, to Morgan to be repaired, but Zephie overhears Morgan talking to Lori and mishears him, and believes he will send Old Puffer Pete to the scrap yard. Brewster and Zephie then are busy all day doing his jobs and keeping him occupied. It is then found out that it's Terry that is going for scrap and Zephie and Brewster are relieved.
Chuggington is getting ready for an inspection, and it's also Emery's day off; he has trouble finding things to do, so he tries helping out, but causes more problems, causing Irving to spill his load of rubbish, Dunbar to constantly re-organize the rolling stock yard, and Eddie to spill paint. Emery hides on the elevated rail station, and finds a passenger waiting, and takes her on a tour of Chuggington. She later reveals she is the inspector, thanks Emery for his honesty and passes Chuggington with flying colours.
Chatsworth is tired after working hard, and goes to the depot to sleep. Olwen, meanwhile, is loading up at the quarry, and some rocks fall, and she runs off as she doesn't want to scratch her paintwork. She goes back to Chuggington and asks Vee for another chugger to do it instead. Vee asks Chatsworth to do it, but Harrison (followed by Wilson) has already taken a hopper to do the job, and Chatsworth does another job after Vee tells it to him. At the Quarry, Harrison bakes 'with style' and lodges rocks in his fuel filter. That night, nobody gets much sleep because of Harrison snoring. When Morgan fixes him, Vee said to Harrison that he would do their jobs while they slept.
Vee asks for a spare engine, and Zephie arrives first. She is to take Dr Gosling on an inspection of all the animals in the Zoo. When Emery passes by, Zephie tells him what she is doing, and Emery scares her by saying the monkeys are mischievous and will steal her wipers. Zephie is upset by this and tries to stay away from the monkeys, but then wanders into the monkey enclosure and realises that the monkeys aren't as bad as Emery says. The trainees also practise using the crane cars.
The trainees are learning how to use their snowploughs, snow horns and snow lanterns, but have yet to experience real snow. When a blizzard comes in, it's all chuggers to the rails! Wilson goes out with Harrison, promising to stick very close to him. Unfortunately, he gets distracted by some children building a snowman, and falls behind. The snowstorm worsens, so Wilson ducks into a tunnel to shelter and an avalanche traps him. Wilson remembers what he learned that morning and uses his snow lantern and horn to attract Harrison's attention. Harrison isn't able to free him on his own, but when they use their horns and lanterns together, Action Chugger sees their signal and swoops down to rescue Wilson and fly him home.
Calley is teaching Hoot and Toot how to use the sliding turntable. When she gets called away on an emergency, she asks Brewster to take over the training. The twins find Brewster's methodical way of teaching a bit boring and make their escape. Brewster chases them all over the depot. The twins accidentally get on the track lift, which sends them straight underground. They explore for a bit, but when they want to get back they can't - not without using a turntable! They wish they'd listened more to Brewster... but his method must have worked, because gradually they remember what he said. Brewster comes looking for them underground just in time to see them operating the turntable perfectly and when Calley sees them demonstrate the turntable later, she thinks Brewster is a fantastic trainer. Hoot and Toot agree!
It's a cold, snowy day in Chuggington and every available chugger is heading out to plough, except for Chatsworth, who is going for a rest after ploughing all night, and Hoot and Toot, who are too inexperienced to be out in the snow. Koko and Harrison head off as a team, Harrison boasting there isn't a drift that can stop him! He blasts through drift after drift and when they come across the biggest drift of all, Harrison tackles it head on and gets stuck inside it! Koko assembles an enormous conga line of chuggers to get him out but they can't quite manage it until, at the last minute, Hoot and Toot and Chatsworth come to the rescue, coupling onto the back of the line, giving the extra strength needed to pull an embarrassed Harrison free.
When Koko sees the pretty design that Lori has painted on Zephie's face, she decides she wants one too and the two of them compete to see who can get the biggest and best design. Lori's too busy repainting rolling stock in the automated spray shed to help, so Koko and Zephie decide to paint each other using the paint car. Koko paints Zephie with spiders and Zephie gives Koko a beard and moustache! They laugh when they realise they've played a trick on each other - but the laughing stops when they discover the paint is permanent! They rush to the spray shed and help each return to their original colours and decide they don't need a new look after all. They're fine just as they are!
On the hottest day of the year, when the trainees are going to help Frostini deliver ice cream, there's a power failure and it looks like all the ice cream will melt! Speedy has an idea: he and Frostini will go to the ice caves in the mountains and bring back ice to keep things cold. Meanwhile, the trainees must look after the refrigerator cars; they'll keep working as long as the trainees keep moving! At the ice cave, Frostini's over enthusiastic ice cutting brings a huge piece crashing down, blocking the exit. He and Speedy are trapped! Speedy uses his steam to melt a way through. They return with the ice, only to discover that the trainees have fallen asleep, so the refrigerator cars have stopped working and the ice cream has melted. Disaster! Until Speedy saves the day, by suggesting they make slush cones, using crushed ice flavoured with the melted, fruit flavoured ice cream.
Dr. Ling is giving a talk about meteors and how, many years ago, one crashed right near this area. Brewster pulls in a real meteorite, borrowed from the museum. Dr. Ling demonstrates that you can move the meteorite with a magnet, as meteorites contain metal. Hoot and Toot are afraid the meteorite might escape and destroy Chuggington, so they decide to return it to space. They take it up the mountains and try to catapult it into the sky, but it falls to earth and races toward the city! Hoot and Toot chase it as it rolls around Chuggington. With the trainees' help, they capture it, using the magnetic crane. They tell Dr. Ling they were only trying to return it to its home - but she says its home is the Chuggington Museum. Hoot and Toot are glad they don't have to say goodbye to the meteorite. They've grown quite fond of it!
Eddie and Hodge have cleaned the sludge out of the chugwash. Now they're going to refill the chugwash soap, then clean the underground tunnels using the Scrub-A-Chug - a fantastic piece of rolling stock with brushes that cleans the ceiling of the tunnel. Their work is interrupted when they get called away on an emergency. Wilson decides to be helpful by finishing their chores. Unfortunately, he accidentally replaces the chugwash soap with chugwash sludge and when he tries to clean the tunnels with the Scrub-A-Chug, he ends up making an even bigger mess! Happily he figures out a way to use the chugwash soap with the Scrub-A-Chug and when Eddie sees the sparkling clean tunnel, he's thrilled. How clever of Wilson to discover that chugwash soap actually helps the Scrub-A-Chug to clean even better!
Wilson is given the important job of taking some photos, to be used on a poster promoting Chuggington. Meanwhile, Dr Ling has a special assignment for Hoot and Toot: pulling a robotic dinosaur around town to promote a new exhibition at the museum. Wilson isn't having much luck taking exciting pictures until he sees the dinosaur go by. Wowzer! He has to get a photo of that! He chases after it, but unfortunately has a collision. His camera flies off and lands out of reach just as Hoot and Toot arrive with the dinosaur. Hoot has an idea. Extending the dinosaur's neck, and using its jaws to grab, Hoot and Toot reach up and retrieve Wilson's camera. The camera goes off while it's in the dinosaur's mouth giving Wilson the perfect shot of Chuggington he needs!
An ice storm hits Chuggington and Koko really wants to help. She sees her chance when she comes across one of the anti-freeze cars. She thinks she's de-icing the tracks, but she's actually making them even icier - she doesn't realise that the car contains water. Because of her actions, Eddie and Emery get stranded out in the cold. Koko admits her mistake and does what she can to help Calley rescue them. When Eddie and Emery are back, safe and warm, Koko promises she'll never do anything like that again without checking with someone first!
Eddie is having a very busy day and Hodge really wants to help - but all the jobs need hands not wheels. When Wilson reports the track lift is malfunctioning, Hodge decides to try to fix it himself. He only makes matters worse, bringing the lift to a grinding halt with Wilson stuck on it! Eddie agrees to let Hodge go and fetch the lift part needed, as long as he uses Dr Ling's Chugnav to guide him on his journey. Unfortunately, Action Chugger has knocked the satellite, which has skewed the signal, leaving the Chugnav talking utter nonsense! Hodge figures out that the satellite must be broken - so Action Chugger takes Hodge on an exciting trip into space to fix it. Hodge finally gets to help out!
It's another glorious day in Chuggington and Zephie is keen to enjoy the sunshine, but every job she is given is underground. Meanwhile Speedy is out in the countryside serving drinks with the juicer wagon, when he'd rather be doing a proper job at the depot. They agree to swap jobs. While trying to operate the juicer, Zephie accidentally knocks a beehive out of a tree. The bees swarm into Zephie's carriage, looking for a new home. Speedy comes to her rescue and together they find the bees a new, safe place to live.
Toot doesn't want to do track inspection with Hoot. To get out of it, she pretends she isn't feeling well. At first she enjoys getting lots of attention, but when Morgan thinks her flywheel needs replacing, which means having her engine taken out and spending the night in the repair shed, Toot realises she's gone too far. She confesses that there's nothing wrong with her - she just didn't want to do the track inspection! Toot realises she has caused a lot of trouble for everyone and promises never to do it again. She and Hoot head off to do the track inspection. Actually, It turns out to be really fun and Toot realises she was making a fuss over nothing.
On an icy winter's day, Wilson and Koko are sent out to sand the tracks in the mountains. They take a short cut through the ice cave. Koko does everything properly, but Wilson doesn't keep his mind on the job, as he has fun exploring. He doesn't realise that an icicle has fallen into his sand wagon, wetting the sand and rendering it useless. He's stuck! He figures out a way to dry the sand by using the heat from his engine and makes it back to the depot - after finishing his job, of course!
Brewster is going to be carrying Mayor Pullman, the new Mayoress of Chuggington, across the newly re-opened Border Bridge in the traditional welcoming ceremony. During the practise run, some of the facade falls off one of the bridge's pillars. It looks as though the ceremony will have to be cancelled, as the bridge might not be safe! At first Brewster is devastated - but then he saves the day by using something Dr. Ling's been working on: her new soap was a disaster in the chugwash, as it set into rock hard foam, but it's perfect for repairing the bridge! Safety restored, Brewster proudly carries Mayor Pullman into Chuggington.
The defect detector is a device that lets Vee know if there's anything wrong with chuggers as they pass by its scanners. Unfortunately, it seems to be malfunctioning! Eddie takes it off to the repair shed and Emery, wanting to be helpful, takes its place. But, worried that he might miss something, Emery sends nearly everyone to the repair shed, creating chaos in the depot! Emery feels bad that he's caused so much work for Vee and wishes he could make up for it. He has an idea. If the detector could talk, it wouldn't have to do everything through Vee. Dr Ling and Eddie think it's a great idea and they update the detector so that it speaks. And they know the perfect voice to use Emery's!
Border Bridge is re-opening and Wilson has been given the special job of using the new 'rolling reporter' car to make a live report, which will be broadcast on Vee's boards all over Chuggington. Wilson takes the car out to practise and comes across Calley training Hoot and Toot. When an emergency call comes in, Calley asks Wilson to look after the twins. They offer to help Wilson practise his report, but instead, they run off with the camera car and end up lost in the ice cave. Happily, the camera is transmitting, so using Vee's boards, Wilson is able to track them. He rescues them and the car and manages to get to the bridge just in time - and Rolling Reporter Wilson is on the air!
Koko decides to try for the High Speed badge - something no trainee has ever won. Emery wishes he still earned badges like the trainees do. For fun, he plays a 'pretend badge' game with Hoot and Toot, where they award each other imaginary badges. Emery is so busy playing his game that he doesn't listen when Vee assigns him to take some supporters to the footbridge to cheer Koko on. Realising that he was so wrapped up in his pretend badge game, he forgot how important the real badge was for Koko, he takes it upon himself to be her number one cheerleader. Koko is flagging, but with Emery's encouragement, she bursts through the finish line! Emery learns that he doesn't need badges anymore - it's enough to know he's done a good job.
The new Mayoress, accompanied by her nephew Denzil, is touring Chuggington. She's observing the chuggers working, in order to help her decide who should be the recipient of the prestigious Chugger of the Year award. Koko is sure she's in with a chance - but rather than doing her jobs, she spends her time trying to impress the Mayoress. In the process, she ends up nearly ruining the ceremony. Speedy comes to her rescue time after time. In the end, Koko realises that she hasn't kept her mind on the job and she doesn't really deserve such an honour - but she's thrilled when the Mayoress, with a little help from Denzil, decides that Speedy is this year's winner!
The trainees are having an exciting stunt training session with Action Chugger, when he is called away to do some filming. As he leaves, Action Chugger invites Brewster and Koko to come down to the film set later to demonstrate the skills they have learned. But Brewster gets called on a long run to Tootington and has no time to practise. Koko goes with him to keep him company and puts her new skills to use when she saves Brewster from a runaway wagon! When they go to the film set later, Brewster is relieved when Action Chugger is too busy to see them, as he hasn't had a chance to practise. But a frustrated Koko is determined to show off what she can do. When filming starts, she sees her chance, but puts herself in great danger. Brewster overcomes his nerves and leaps to the rescue. Everyone is impressed, including Action Chugger, who decides to use the footage in his film.
