Max is still hungry after his lunch is all over him instead of in him, and Ruby decides to give him a bath, but unfortunately, he uses sherbet tubs and a grape juice glass as a boat, and that manages to get him dirtier than before, so Ruby gives him a shower. After his shower, he points out that Ruby's clothes have been stained, meaning she needs to wash now.
Ruby tries to teach Max to play Hide-and-Seek, but when they play, Max is too little to understand the rules and he does not want to give Ruby a turn to hide. When Ruby unsuccessfully tries to explain to him that it is her turn to hide since Max already had a turn, Max takes his chances to hide when Ruby isn't looking.
Ruby wants to plant marigolds in a garden but its the same place Max has chosen to make a "worm cake", a mud-pie consisting of soaked soil, stones, and worms. He uses all her marigold-planting materials in his worm cake, but then he gives the worm cake back to Ruby, where it's used for a good cause.
Ruby and Max want to go outside to play in the rain, but Max wants to go out in his sunny day clothes. Ruby tries to get Max to put on a raincoat, but by the time both of the bunnies are ready to go out, the rain clouds have cleared and the sun is out. Can Max and Ruby still have fun in the rain? Max insists on Ruby reading him a scary mystery story before bed. After some hesitation, Ruby agrees to, and reads Max a story about the blue tarantula, who crawls on little bunnies at night when they are asleep and bites them, causing them to die. Max stays up all night in fear of the tarantula. Will Ruby find a way to get him to go to sleep?
Max is full of questions when Ruby hurries to bed on Christmas Eve so that Santa Claus can come. No one ever stays up to see Santa. No one except Max.
Max wants to play with a screaming, green alien-gorilla, but Ruby insists that he helps her create a snow queen to welcome Grandma. After the snow queen is finished, Max's gorilla toy has vanished.
