  • S05E02 Cable Car and Viewing Tower

    Join Maddie as she finds out how cable cars work and visits a viewing tower to see how it was made. We learn how cable cars don’t have engines inside and see all the different parts that work together. Maddie uses her special cameras to take us on a ride in the cable car and show us how the car moves along the cable as it passes over the support towers. Maddie then goes to the top of a high viewing tower, which is 170 metres tall and shaped like a sail on a boat. We discover the tower is built on a special platform with concrete columns that are constructed in the sea. Maddie uses her special camera as she climbs inside the hollow tower structure to show us how they bolt the legs of the tower together. Finally, Maddie travels to the very top, to the viewing platform with a strong glass floor, so we can see all the way down to the ground below our feet!

  • S05E03 Farming Robots and 3D Printer

    Maddie visits a robot workshop where they design farming robots that help farmers grow crops. She meets three farming robots, Tom, Wilma and Richard that work together on the farm to help find the weeds in the fields. Maddie learns that Tom, a scanning robot, can see things we cannot see, using special cameras to scan and take photos of the weeds, animals, insects and crops in the field. Maddie then discovers how Tom sends pictures and information to an artificial intelligence computer called Wilma to build a map of the field. Finally, Maddie meets another Richard, a robot who uses the map to find and destroy the weeds. Maddie then visits a printing workshop to see how a 3D printer makes things. At the workshop, they design glasses frames to wear and Maddie uses her special camera to see how the 3D printing works by building up layers stacked on top of each other.
