Dess asks Jayda to EP her new album as she struggles with feeling the songs aren’t good enough while preparing for a big performance in New York City. As if Ari doesn’t have enough on her plate dealing with her boyfriend’s tragedy, her sisters threaten to ruin the reveal of her magazine cover. Tae seeks advice from his family about opening a salon, but his mom worries he is taking on too much. Still having family problems, Lakeyah is called to a meeting with Coach and Pee where they tell her she needs to get it together.
After her magazine reveal, Ari tries to concentrate on her business endeavors but all of that goes away when she finds out she might be pregnant. Jayda and Ari get their sons together for a playdate but realize their tension is still lingering. Jayda’s getting ready to launch her clothing line only to find out some of the clothing is defective. Tae tries to face his mental blocks so he can achieve his dream of owning a salon. Dess’ confidence soars after a stellar performance in NYC.
Jayda and Ari both try to go about their business but know they are going to have to deal with their problems in their relationship when they meet up at Tae’s paint and sip party. Dess starts boot camp and shoots a music video as she tries to make it as an independent artist. Tae checks out a salon space as he prepares for a trip to Chicago. Lakeyah gets advice from female rapper Saweetie about how to deal with the stress and pressure in their business.
Jayda celebrates the launch of her new line at a pop-up shop, but lingering issues with her sister, Jazz must be dealt with. Ari and Tae deal with their own issues in their past as they begin their trip in their hometown Chicago. Atlantic Records is courting Dess, but she is unsure she wants to give up her independence.
