Petra Gmeiner und ihr Freund Marc Kirnbauer betreiben eine Trennungsagentur. Trennungswillige Menschen, die nicht selbst zur Tat schreiten wollen, können Petra und Marc mit der heiklen Aufgabe betrauen. Als Petra Gmeiner tot am Fuße eines Rohbaus gefunden wird, ist schnell klar, dass jemand „nachgeholfen“ haben muss. Klarerweise konzentrieren sich die Ermittlungen sofort auf eine Heerschar verletzter Trennungsopfer. Aber auch Petras Ex-Mann hätte ein Motiv, denn zwischen Petra und ihm herrscht ein erbitterter Krieg um die gemeinsame Tochter Lea. Mit der hatte Petra ihre liebe Not, denn Mutter und Tochter waren nur noch auf Konfrontationskurs. Es war bereits so schlimm, dass Petra überlegt hatte, Lea auf ein Internat zu schicken.
