Rory čeká řečnická soutěž. Lorelai na tuto soutěž pozve i otce Rory Christophera. Ten dorazí i se svou přítelkyní Sherry. Při páteční večeři, kde Sherry mluví o tom, že je připravená vdát se a založit rodinu, se Emily naštve a vyčítá Lorelai, že na jejím místě měla být ona. Lane má stále domácí vězení.
Christopher und seine Freundin Sherry kommen zu Besuch nach Stars Hollow. Die beiden sind noch immer sehr verliebt und wohnen mittlerweile zusammen. Sherry ist ganz wild darauf, Rory kennen zu lernen, und gibt Lorelai unmissverständlich zu verstehen, dass sie an ihr keinerlei Interesse hat. Während also Sherry mit Rory ausgeht, nimmt Lorelai ihren Ex-Mann mit zum obligatorischen Freitagabend-Essen bei ihren Eltern.
Emily empfängt Christopher mit offenen Armen, verliert aber die Fassung, als sie erfährt, dass es ihm mit seiner neuen Freundin ernst ist. Sie wirft Lorelai vor, nicht genug getan zu haben, um Rory ihren Vater zurückgeben zu können. Das sitzt - zumal Lorelai erkennt, dass sie insgeheim immer gehofft hat, wieder mit Christopher zusammen zu kommen. Als sie Christopher ihre Erkenntnis mitteilt, versteht er sie jedoch völlig falsch…
Christopher comes to town on a business trip with his girlfriend Sherrie in tow. Lorelai finds out that Emily has always envisioned that Lorelai and Christopher would end up together and blames Lorelai for always keeping him, and everyone else, at arm's length.

Lorelai e Rory ficam surpresas quando Christopher leva Sherry para Stars Hollow e deixa claro que se reaproximar de Rory é sua principal prioridade. Emily descobre sobre Sherry e fica furiosa com Lorelai, por ela estragar sua última chance de recuperar Christopher.
Un debate entre Chilton y otra escuela está por darse, y Rory y Paris representan a su escuela. Christopher aprovecha la oportunidad para visitar a Lorelai y Rory, pero llega acompañado de su novia Sherry.
Desde un primer momento, Sherry intenta construir una relación con Rory, y le dice a Lorelai que no es necesario que ambas sean amigas. Sherry le propone a Rory para ir de compras esa noche (viernes); Lorelai primero duda pero luego acepta, así que mientras Sherry y Rory salen a pasear, Lorelai decide llevar a Christopher a cenar con Emily y Richard.
Christopher cuenta de lo bien que le está yendo con Sherry, pero Emily se molesta, habla mal de ella, lamenta que Rory no esté cenando con ellos, se pelea con Lorelai y le dice que perdió su última oportunidad de volver con Christopher. Al día siguiente, mientras Rory elabora un plan con Michel y Kirk para hacerle llegar un disco nuevo a Lane, que estaba castigada por lo de Henry, Lorelai le dice a Christopher que mientras ella tenía sus relaciones amorosas esperaba que ambos estuviesen juntos, por lo que rompió su compromiso con Max, pero ahora que lo ve con Sherry ya no sucederá eso. När Christopher återvänder med sin nya flickvän Sherry väcker det gamla sår hos Lorelai.
