This programme attempts to uncover, for the first time on television, the incredible events happening right in front of us, every second of every day. Presenter Richard Hammond finds out what wind actually is and captures some while visiting the place with 'the worst weather in the world'; shows how to predict the weather by watching which way the clouds are moving; finds out how rain can crush a car - but not a sandcastle; and lights a giant hotplate in a UK quarry to create his very own thermal. Students will see Richard create his own rain, stand in the middle of a tornado and witness a thunderstorm indoors - amongst other thought-provoking, entertaining - and unexpected - experiments. By getting in amongst real weather, or by creating his own, Richard attempts to show just what makes weather tick.
