Thomas trifft im Hafen auf Skarloey. Der ist ganz traurig, weil er liegen geblieben ist und keine Lok da ist, die ihn in die Werkstatt fahren kann. Sofort wendet sich Thomas an den dünnen Kontrolleur und bietet seine Hilfe an. Der dünne Kontrolleur hat Angst, dass Skarloey für Thomas zu schwer sein könnte. Doch Thomas bittet und bettelt so lange, bis der dünne Kontrolleur einverstanden ist. Allerdings sagt er Thomas, dass er Skarloey ohne Umwege zur Werkstatt fahren soll. Stolz macht sich Thomas mit Skarloey im Schlepp auf den Weg. Weil Skarloey aber so furchtbar traurig ist, will Thomas ihn aufheitern und macht ein paar kleine Umwege, um ihm ein paar Sehenswürdigkeiten zu zeigen...
Skarloey is in dire need of repairs, but the workshop is all the way over on the other side of Sodor. Thomas kindly comes forward, in that he will transport Skarloey there. Once Skarloey is on a flatbed truck, the Thin Controller warns Thomas about its coupling, as it could easily come loose.
Skarloey is feeling very miserable, so Thomas tries as hard as he can to make the little chap feel better, by showing him sights around the island. When none of his efforts seem to work, Thomas comes up with the idea of showing Skarloey the view from the peak of Gordon’s Hill, but he has forgotten about that flatbed’s coupling…
Tomek ma zabrać zepsutego Sławka do warsztatu. Postanawia zabrać go po drodze na wycieczkę. Sławek stwierdza jednak, że widział już zamek, doliny i wzgórza. Tomek zabiera go na Gabrysiowe Wzgórze. Wagon ze Sławkiem się odczepia i zaczyna toczyć się w dół. Zatrzymuje się dopiero na bocznicy. Po tym wszystkim Tomek postanawia zabrać Sławka prosto do warsztatu. Po drodze mijają morze, którego Sławek nigdy nie widział.
