In the Grip of the Seasons (Arctic)

Nun dringen die Tierfilmer in die Arktis vor. Kein Ort unseres Planeten verändert sich über die Jahreszeiten dramatischer und stellt Jäger wie Polarfuchs, Eisbär und Polarwolf vor größere Herausforderungen. Das Jahr ist in dieser unwirklichen Region für die Raubtiere voller Entbehrungen, nur gelegentlich bietet ein kurzes Zeitfenster einfachere Jagdmöglichkeiten und damit bessere Überlebenschancen. Nicht nur das Wetter verändert sich, sondern auch der gesamte Lebensraum: Wo eben noch endloses Eis das Meer bedeckte, entsteht im Sommer ein Labyrinth aus Eisschollen.

In the Grip of the Seasons looks at the challenges of hunting in the Arctic, the most seasonal place on Earth. To a predator, seasonal change is a problem. It means that all the parameters of the hunt - the conditions, the strategies, the prey - change too. The only option for the Arctic's top predators, the wolf, the Arctic fox and the polar bear, is to continually adapt to their changing world, exploiting the good times and enduring the bad.

Rovdyrene i Arktis har en særlig udfordring, hvor årstiderne i sjælden grad ændrer betingelserne for jagten. L'unica possibilità per i maggiori predatori dell'Artico, come il lupo, la volpe artica e l'orso polare, è quella di adattarsi continuamente al mondo che cambia, sfruttando i tempi dell'abbondanza e tollerando quelli di magra.
