Karen postrádá svůj deníček a Cody tak má námět pro svoji retro-detektivku. Zpěvačce Čiči Mňau (Karen) kdosi ukradl deníček a tak žádá detektiva Sama Spuda (Cody), aby jí ho pomohl najít. V podezření jsou ostatní zpěvačky z tria 'Nevlastní sestry Andrewovy' - Koko (Al) a Cassie (Dana). Stejně tak Zlata (Carol), bavič Buddy (JT), klavírista (Brendan) a majitel Sandwich baru, kde se podává jen chilli, Frankie 'tuňák'. Sam za pomoci doktora (Mark) zjistí poněkud překvapivého pachatele. A byla to Carol, kdo strčil deník k Al do skříně.
Cody betätigt sich schriftstellerisch und schreibt einen Krimi im Stil der 40er-Jahre. In den Zeiten der großen Depression verschwindet Kitty Miaus Tagebuch. Jeder im Sandwich-Club ist verdächtig. Eindeutig ein Fall für Privatdetektiv Cody, alias Sam Spud. Alles deutet auf einen leichten Fall hin. Aus Cocos Koffer fällt das gesuchte Tagebuch. Coco, ein Mitglied der Mädchen-Band, schwört aber Stein und Bein, dass sie unschuldig ist. Nach und nach knöpft sich der Meisterdetektiv sämtliche Mitarbeiter des Clubs vor. Motive gibt es im hart umkämpften Showbusiness viele.
Cody is writing a 40's style mystery for his creative writing class. He gets an idea when Karen proclaims her diary is missing. His pun-filled story is played out by the Lambert/Foster family. Kitty Meow (Karen), who sings in the famous trio the Andrews step-sisters, lost her diary. The suspects are as follows: the other two Andrew's step-sisters (Dana and Al), the establishment's piano player (Brendan), comic (JT), and other singing act, Miss Honey Dew (Carol). With the help of the lab technician (Mark), Sam Spud (Cody) discovers it was Honey Dew. In real life, Al turns out to be the one who misplaced Karen's diary.
