京都町中、鎮火された現場に戻ってきた操の異変に、薫はいち早く気が付く。恵の診療所では、近江が目を覚まし、安心して涙を流す十郎。一方、徳二の足の指には遺体を意味する黒い札が括り付けられていた——。そして、葵屋に戻った剣心たちは、お増から翁が目を覚ましたと知らされる。
In Kyoto, Kaoru quickly notices something strange with Misao, as Misao comes back to the location where a fire was put out. At Megumi's clinic, Omi awakens, bringing tears of relief to Juro. Meanwhile, a black tag is put on Tokuji's toe to mark that he is dead. Kenshin and the others come back to Aoiya, where they learn from Omasu that Okina has woken up.
Kenshin revient à Kyoto et trouve Misao en pleurs.
