While dragons, men, and beasts fight outside, Parn makes his way to the deepest area where the altar holds the dying Deedlit. Wagnard has been filled with Kardis' immense power, and he takes it out on Ashram, striking with dark magic that slams Ashram into walls and to the brink of death. But Ashram is not about to lose, and when Parn arrives at the scene, a battle ensues among the three. Wagnard seems to have the upper hand, but the battle turns to the two heroes with the swords that were once held by Beld and Fahn, with the future of Lodoss hanging on the edge.
Parn continue seul sa marche dans les profondeurs de la citadelle maudite, laissant derrière lui Slayne, Laira puis Eto combattre de puissantes créatures. La lutte engagée entre Vagnard et son ancien serviteur Ashram fait rage quand Parn arrive enfin sur les lieux du sacrifice. Là il voit Deedlit inconsciente descendre inéluctablement vers les flammes de l'enfer. Les deux chevaliers vont devoir s'unir contre toute attente pour tenter de vaincre le terrible magicien...
Parn si accinge ad affrontare Vagnard per salvare Deedlit ed impedire la resurrezione di Kardis, ma anche Ashram si unisce allo scontro.

A medida que Kardis va resucitando los ejércitos de demonios de Marmo también lo hacen y atacan a Kashue. Parn se une a Ashram en su lucha contra Vagnar. Mientras Vagnar está pendiente de Parn creyendo haber matada a Ashram, éste se le acerca por detrás y le corta en dos. Vagnar ríe porque Kardis le ha concedido la vida eterna, pero le quita su don y Vagnar muere.
Ashram se enfrenta a Parn, cuando Ashram está a punto de matar a Parn. Vagnar se levanta y lcuha contra Ashram pero le atraviesa con la espada, sin embargo a causa de las heridas Ashram muere. Vagnar cae a través de una grieta.
Parn toma la espada de Ahsram y con la suya salta al vacío para liberar a Deedlit. El dragón dorado neutraliza al dragón oscuro y los demonios muertos vuelven a serlo.
De vuelta en Valis, hay una gran fiesta. Parn se va de los festines siendo únicamente percibido por Kashue quien le da una espada y lo nombra caballero de Lodoss. Deedlit le espera a la puerta y juntos se van cabalgando. El resto de compañeros lo mira desde la muralla.
