After reading about leprechauns, Lulu decides to find one and rob him of his pot of gold. Meanwhile, Max the midget escapes from prison and hides in the woods, where Lulu finds him. Thinking that he's a leprechaun (since he's only three feet tall), Lulu chases him all over the city. In the end, the criminal finally gives himself up to the police, who reward Lulu.
In an attempt to prevent his daughter from spending her money needlessly on sweets, Mr. Moppet tells Lulu the story of The Grasshopper and The Ant. Seeing how the grasshopper wasted his money, and could count on no help from the ant, Lulu promises her father that he won't waste her money any more. But the temptation of the local candy store grows too strong, and Lulu buys all of the sweets that she can get hold of in order to "save up for the winter."
For misbehaving, Little Lulu gets a spanking from Daddy with the book "Art of Self Defense" in her pants. In the shower, after being sent to her room, Lulu starts to sing "I'm Just Curious." Later Lulu sneaks out and goes after a chicken hawk who, thinking that he's a stork, tries to get Lulu's chickens from her family's henhouse.
Lulu is unable to have a picnic because of the bad weather. Despite the warnings from Mamsie, the little girl heads for an old house outside of town, one that is rumored to be haunted. But Mamsie's fears are true- the old house is haunted by two ghosts. But the two ghosts aren't mean or scary- they're just hungry. When Lulu eats all of her picnic lunch, the ghosts realize the food is gone and cry unhappily. Feeling sorry for the two sprits, Lulu takes them home and feeds them, much to the displeasure of Mamsie.

When he finally traps the eagle, he doesn't have the heart to steal the feather. The eagle feels sorry for him for trying, and he helps the papoose get a feather anyway. Litttle Papoose goes back to the tribe and wraps himself in a blanket with the eagle, its feather sticking out. He becomes an Indian brave.

But Beetle, Lieutenant Cosmo, Private Killer, Private Zero, Private Rocky and Private Plato believe that their Sergeant has gone nuts and attack him to bring him back to his senses. Even his bulldog, Otto, leaves the Sarge for a French poodle.
Barney Google decides to cash in on the current music rage by recording the song that Snuffy Smith sings as he chops wood. Believing that Snuffy's song will make them a fortune in the recording business, Barney encourages Snuffy and his wife Louise to travel to New York City to make a record of the song at the Sam Stereo Recording Company. The recording executive is impressed with the man's talent... but when Snuffy's still explodes and wrecks the recording studio, the deal is off, and the angry recording company executive throws the trio out.
Snuffy, Barney and Louise are stranded in the big city with no money for a mule and a wagon until a pair of gangsters offer to buy them one if they will just deliver a note and a satchel to the nearby bank. Desperately in need of funds to return to Hootin' Holler, Snuffy gets a job helping out the men by standing guard outside of a building... not realizing that he's becoming an unwitting pawn to a pair of bank robbers. Ignatz Mouse is hired to sell a prefabricated house to local brick foundry owner Kelly by a corrupt Realtor. Krazy competes by building herself a simple home with "everything" that Kelly has. But Krazy Kat's simple home (made from two umbrellas) bothers Kelly. The trio becomes embroiled in a battle of wits as to whose house is better.
It's the Christmas season, and Goodie the gremlin gives cheer to Santa and gives out the presents.
Sergeant Snorkle is bothered by the lack of beauty at Camp Swampy, so he sends away for a Japanese leechee tree. While the tree is being planted, Sergeant Snorkle heads for a little R&R. Private Zero destroys the tree. Fearful of what their Sergeant might do to them for wrecking his tree, Beetle, Lieutenant Cosmo and Zero buy another Japanese Leechee tree from a local Japanese restaurant and plant that. The scheme falls apart when our heroes set their jeep in reverse and wreck the new tree.
Snuffy, Loweezy, and Barney are stranded in the city. When Loweezy goes to find some vittles for them, she meets an actress, Beulah Beulah, who is to play a hillbilly woman in a stage drama. Loweezy helps the actress research the role, even to Beulah's dressing exactly like Loweezy. But confusion ensues when Snuffy sees Beulah outside the theater and mistakes her for Loweezy.
Snuffy is drafted. But he's the wrong Smith. He goes through fire and brimstone to reach the commanding general to explain the mistake. Mistaking Snuffy for a draft dodger, two MPs arrest Snuffy and take him to a military base at the North Pole for basic training. As usual, Snuffy and his horse Sparkplug create havoc.
Ignatz Mouse goes to jail by buying stuff without asking how much the items cost, so his credit card bill doesn't get high...

Casper runs into the Weeping Willow, who has been teased by other trees. Casper's friends tell him that the giants' riddle has never been solved. Later, the giants are surprised when Casper correctly answers "a ghost" and wins the Potion of Motion. Casper pours the potion on the willow, and it is able to move.
While Casper is walking through the enchanted forest, he thinks that he hears the wind, but it's a lonesome giant named Hugo with his sighing. Hugo tells Casper that he is lonesome and has no friends. Casper invites him to meet his animal friends. When they refuse to befriend him and the giant cries, they decide to let him be one of the gang.
The Ghostly Trio punish Casper for not being mean. They pick on him by throwing him in a lake while they laugh. Casper's tall, muscular cousin Powerhouse comes by and shows him how to build up muscle so that he can take care of the other ghosts. Powerhouse kicks the Ghostly Trio out of their house (but the Ghostly Trio thinks that Powerhouse is a muscular Casper).
Big Bill, a billionaire, has everything and has done everything. He's looking for people who can make him laugh. But he doesn't laugh at the same thing twice. Greedy Gertie takes him for a ride, and he wants to buy her flying broom. Now she wants to marry him for all his money. Big Bill also encounters Casper and the Ghostly Trio.
Casper strolls through the forest and comes upon a golden cottage with golden flowers all around. When he asks for directions, the cottage owner is very unhappy. He has no friends, and everything that he touches turns to gold. The owner is Midas the Miser, whose golden touch is a bother to him. Casper tries to help him find a heart of gold, which is the supposed cure.
The first star is out, and Wendy wishes for red dancing shoes for her birthday. Casper poses as the granter, who goes to frighten the Ghostly Trio and gets the free shoes from the cobbler. The cobbler says, "For one thing, I hope they aren't bewitched." They are bewitched, but Wendy dances without noticing this. Wendy can't stop dancing and needs the help of a good witch. Finally, the fairy breaks the spell of the out-of-control dancing shoes.
Beatle, Zero and Sergeant Snorkle are assigned to deliver a statue of a famous Civil War general astride his horse for Camp Swamp's courtyard. After picking up the piece from the sculptor, the boys manage to break it. Fearful of the consequences, Sergeant Snorkle disguises himself as the long-dead General while Beetle and Zero masquerade as the horse. As usual, the deception is soon discovered. Meanwhile, To bring Camp Swampy to the attention of The Pentagon, Gen. Halftrack decides to put a man on the moon. And Beetle Bailey is chosen to volunteer.
Snuffy loses his house in a Saturday night poker game. The sheriff comes to throw the Smiths out. Snuffy needs $13.85 to save the homestead. They decide to look up Barney Google and get the money from him... Meanwhile, Jerky Jockey steals Snuffy's Hexing Posies and uses them in the big race against Sparkplug with Barney up.
The men of Sergeant Snorkle's platoon are unable to perform any music for an upcoming concert for the top military brass. Beetle comes up with an idea to save Snorkle's stripes: have Otto stand backstage and play a record of a classical piece of music while the soldiers simply pantomime to the record. As usual, the deception is discovered and all the members of Sergeant Snorkle's platoon are under arrest.
Beetle and Zero are summoned to the kitchen by Sergeant Snorkle. The sergeant orders Beetle and Zero to stay in the kitchen of Camp Swampy, and not to interfere with General Halftrack's birthday party, as he doesn't want anything to go wrong. Wanting to do something nice for the commanding officer, the boys try to create a big birthday cake for the general- a cake large enough for the entire base.
When the men find out that Sergeant Snorkle is being transferred from Camp Swampy for being abusive to them, Beetle and the other members of the platoon hire a hypnotist to make Sergeant Snorkle so abusive to his COs that he'll get booted out of the army. The plan backfires when Captain Scabbard gives Sergeant Snorkle one more chance and reinstates him to his rank at the base
In order to get away from menial ground police duty, Beetle and Zero attempt to get into the plumbing business. They hear a leak in General Halftrack's basement. To slick up on their plumbing skills, they try to fix the leak in the general's house with disastrous results! Sadly, the pair do little more than wreck the general's plumbing and drive him out of his mind.
The Pentagon gives Otto a rank of second lieutenant. Unfortunately, Otto's new rank makes him an obnoxious and arrogant bully. In the end, Otto loses his new rank when he attacks General Halftrack, his pet General Pussycat and the other officers in the officers' mess. Meanwhile, Beetle and his pals want to go to the big dance. But it's for officers only, and Sarge is determined that it'll stay that way. They try to sneak through the barbed wire, then a minefield.
Officer Pupp meets, coming into town, another of Krazy Kat's cousins, Potluck from the South Pole (who sounds more like he's from the American South). Cousin Potluck arrives on a dogsled. He is hungry, and he needs a place to stay. Potluck agrees to spend one night with Ignatz, who proceeds to annoy his guest.
At ad agency Charcoal, Grey and Flannel, executive ad man C.B. is looking to sell all of the useless locomotives to average, simple folks, namely Krazy Kat and Ignatz Mouse. But Mr. Loco, the client and owner of all of the locomotives, wants to go out and sell them himself, so he sets out to sell them to Krazy and Ignatz with the usual corny but cute results
Beetle, Zero and Lieutenant Cosmo are ordered to guard a new secret weapon (a super ray gun) prior to testing the device before the military brass the next morning. The machine is covered by a dustcloth... and the new organ (intended for the post choir) - roughly the same size and width of the super ray gun- is also sporting a similar dustcloth.
