Die Geschichte von „MegaMan NT Warrior“ spielt während der Cyber Revolution im Jahre 20xx, in der die gesamte Technologie mit einem Zentralen Computersystem verbunden ist. Die Einwohner von DenTech City besitzen tragbare Terminals (PETs), die eine virtuelle Figur, den „NetNavi“ (Netzwerk Navigator) enthalten, welche im Netzwerk lebt. Jeder NetNavi besitzt die selben Charakteristiken und Wesenszüge wie sein Eigentümer, ist allerdings darüber hinaus mit erweiterten technologischen Kräften ausgestattet. Die kriminelle Organisation „World Three“ will das Internet unter seine Kontrolle bringen und so die Welt ins Chaos stürzen. Der Computerfreak Lan will das mit Hilfe seines NetNavis „MegaMan“ verhindern – die gefährliche Reise durch das Internet beginnt.
The year is 200X, and everything electronic is connected by internet. In this world, there is no one, rich or poor, who does not own a PET (Personal Terminal), and there is not one PET that does not house a NetNavi, an AI Unit that has the power to delete Viruses and the like. Net Battles (where Operators battle their NetNavis) are popular in this era. That is where Lan Hikari and his NetNavi and best friend, Megaman come in. Striving to become the best NetBattlers, they fight Net Crime and protect the net and real world alike from the likes of the evil terrorist organization the World 3.

L’action se déroule en 200X au moment de la Cyber Révolution. Les habitants de Dentech City sont connectés grâce aux Pets - des terminaux spécifiques - à un réseau informatique dans lequel ils évoluent individuellement à travers des "Net Navi", leurs navigateurs personnels. Chaque Net Navi possède des caractéristiques et des pouvoirs propres. Megaman est celui de Lan , un jeune garçon gradé de la cinquième section. Ensemble et avec leurs amis, ils essaient de contrecarrer le diabolique Mr Wily et son organisation du chaos Net Crime qui menacent d’anéantir le monde.
Questa serie vede come protagonista un Net-Operatore di nome Lan Hikari. Vive in un mondo altamente tecnologico, in cui quasi tutti possiedono un Net-Navi, un alter ego virtuale capace di viaggiare in Internet, dove è stata addirittura creata una grande città proprio per loro: per combattere o usati per riparare oggetti elettronici. Però alcuni usano i propri amici virtuali per azioni criminali. Lan ha un Net-Guerriero molto speciale, Megaman, un robottino blu che, a causa delle sue origini, ha molti poteri in più degli altri Net-Navi. Nei Portal Entertainment Terminal (PET) vengono inseriti dei chip, chiamati Battlechip, che potenziano i Net-Navi fornendo loro armi, dotandoli di potenti abilità o proteggerli
