Während Magnums und Higgins Abwesenheit sind Diebe ins Haus eingebrochen. Anscheinend hatten sie es auf eine wertvolle hawaiianische Statue abgesehen, die sie allerdings nicht fanden. Jetzt will Robin Masters die Figur einem Museum stiften. Zuvor jedoch soll sie auf einer Kreuzfahrt ausgestellt werden. Magnum, T.C. und Rick erhalten den Auftrag, die Skulptur zu bewachen. Dabei beobachten sie, dass einige der Passagiere ein ungewöhnliches Interesse an der Plastik zeigen. Und tatsächlich – eines Morgens ist die Figur verschwunden.
Magnum is to spend a week aboard a luxury cruise ship guarding an Amakua, a valuable wooden Hawaiian statuette recently purchased by Robin Masters, to be displayed on the liner while en route to the Hilo Museum. But Thomas and Higgins find that Apollo has been shot and seriously wounded after thieves attempted to steal the artefact from the Estate. Expecting the would-be robbers to try again during the cruise, Thomas secures Rick and T.C.'s additional help in guarding the artefact, but they find themselves on-board with a ship load of suspects, all potential thieves of the Amakua...

Magnum si trova a bordo di un lussuoso yacht da crociera di Masters, per occuparsi della salvaguardia di una preziosa statuetta di legno Hawaiana, l'Amuka, ultimo acquisto dell'eccentrico romanziere che intende darla in prestito al museo. Durante il tragitto in mare, Higgins scopre che Apollo è stato seriamente ferito durante un tentato furto dell'Amuka. Thomas assume Rick e T.C. per aumentare la sorveglianza, ma i passeggeri a bordo sembrano avere tutti un ottimo motivo per essere sospettati.
