Let the Games Begin

Lorelai a Rory se vrací z tanečního maratonu. Ráno se v bistru Kirk vychloubá svou trofejí, ale opět mu ji někdo ukradne. Při páteční večeři Emily navrhne Rory, zda-li by se s ní nechtěla jet podívat na Yale. Rory souhlasí a na výlet s nimi jedou také Lorelai a Richard. Rory a Jess se poprvé políbí.

Richard lädt Lorelai und Rory ein, mit ihm und Emily nach Yale zu fahren, um dort die Universität zu besichtigen. Keiner weiß, dass Richard sogar einen Vorstellungstermin für Rory organisiert hat, und als er endlich damit herausrückt, fühlt sich Lorelai wieder einmal vor den Kopf gestoßen. Rory nimmt den Termin in Yale zwar wahr, wirft ihrem Großvater anschließend aber vor, sie überrumpelt zu haben. Nachdem sich auch Lorelai und Richard wieder in die Haare bekommen haben, lassen die beiden Frauen Richard und Emily einfach stehen und fahren mit dem Taxi nach Hause. Auch in Rorys Liebesleben geht es turbulent zu: Sie und Jess kommen sich immer näher, doch so ganz wohl ist Rory bei der Sache nicht. Sie beschließt, sich zuerst mit Dean auszusprechen, bevor sie eine neue Beziehung anfängt…

In the aftermath of the Dance Marathon, Kirk parades around Stars Hollow with the trophy until someone steals it, while Lorelai and Rory painfully inch their way towards Luke's. Lorelai and Rory reluctantly agree to accept Richard's invitation to accompany him and Emily to his Whiffenpoof reunion at Yale.

Lorelai et Rory accompagnent Richard et Emily en voyage pour visiter Yale, mais les choses tournent au drame quand Lorelai et Rory apprennent que Richard a arrangé une entrevue pour Rory avec le doyen des admissions.

Richard is in de ban van de Bulldogs als hij, Emily, Lorelai en Rory een bezoek brengen aan Yale. Hij regelt zelfs een toelatingsgesprek voor Rory, hoewel hij weet dat ze liever naar Harvard wil. Rory en Jess blazen hun romance nieuw leven in.

Luke tenta definir algumas regras para Jess sobre o seu relacionamento com Rory.

En la mañana siguiente de la maratón, mientras Kirk pasea su trofeo por todo el pueblo, Luke se sorprende al escuchar las noticias de que Rory y Jess ahora están juntos, aunque cuando los descubre en su departamento a punto de besarse, decide establecer unas reglas con Jess sobre Rory. Richard le comenta a Rory que Emily y él irán a New Haven para visitar la universidad de Yale y tendrán una cena ahí, así que le ofrece para ir el fin de semana y ella acepta. Pero a Lorelai no le parece buena idea, y ante la insistencia de Rory de no discutir con su padre, Lorelai también decide ir. El paseo por la universidad es muy bueno, ya que Emily y Richard recuerdan momentos de su juventud, pero las cosas empeoran cuando Richard le dice a Rory que arregló una cita para ella con el director de admisiones; Lorelai está furiosa y decide irse rápidamente, y Emily le dice que piense que si Rory estudiara en Yale estaría más cerca de Stars Hollow. Ya de vuelta en casa, y luego de haber engañado a Luke para poder ir a verse afuera con Jess, Rory visita a Dean para decirle que fue muy bueno haber estado con él y ella espera que él algún día la perdone.
