Eines Tages kommt ein Papagei angeflogen, der mit Andy zusammenstößt. Beide gehen dabei k.o. Als der Vogel aufwacht, adoptiert Gracie ihn sofort, gibt ihm einen Namen und will sich nie wieder von ihm trennen. Mit seinem Gekreische und wilden Umhergeflatter terrorisiert der Papagei die ganze Familie. Die hängt überall Flugblätter aus, aber der einzige Besitzer eines entflogenen Papageis, der sich daraufhin meldet, behauptet letztendlich, es wäre doch nicht seiner. Eines Tages ist das Kinderzimmerfenster offen und der Papagei fliegt weg. Die ganze Familie verdächtigt sich gegenseitig, derjenige gewesen zu sein, der das Fenster offen gelassen hat...
A trained bird flies into Andy's head in the backyard and Gracie adopts it as her bird pet, Daphne. The bird is driving everyone insane and they all can't wait to get rid of it, but unfortunately Gracie developed a deep emotional attachment to it. When someone leaves the window opened and the bird flies out in the middle of the night, Jim and Andy team up to go look for it at the park the next morning. When they spot the bird, their first reaction is not to tell Gracie, but Jim doesn't want to lie to his daughter anymore. Later, the real owner show up at the house and Gracie is forced to say goodbye to her feathered friend. Or is the thought of running away to Mexico more appealing than that?
Gracie trova per caso un pappagallo e se ne affeziona immediatamente. Ma qualche giorno dopo bussa alla porta il proprietario, e a malincuore Gracie deve restituirlo.
Egy idomított madár repül Andy fejére a hátsó udvarban, amit aztán Gracie befogad és elnevezi Daphne-nak. A madár mindnekit az őrületbe kerget és már alig várják, hogy végre megszabaduljanak tőle, azonban mindenki bánatársa Gracie mélyen kötödik az állathoz. Amikor valaki éjszakára nyitva hagyja az ablakot és a madár elrepül, Jim és Andy másnap reggel csapatba verődve keresik a madarat a parkban. Rá is találnak, azonban először arra gondolnak, hogy nem mondják el Gracie-nek, de Jim nem akar többé hazudni a lányának. Kesőbb a valódi tulajdonos is megjelenik a háznál, így Gracie kénytelen búcsút mondani a tollas barátjának.
