My Own Private Idaho

Mikey Waters, a Male prostitution, stands alone on a deserted stretch of highway. He starts talking to himself and notices that the road looks "like someone’s face, like a fucked-up face." He then experiences a Narcolepsy episode and dreams of his mother comforting him as he replays home movies of his childhood in his mind.

Luke is a restless and reckless drifter and Jon is a relatively timid and pessimistic film critic. Both are gay and HIV positive. After an unconventional meeting, and after Luke kills a Homophobia police officer, they go on a road trip with the motto "Fuck everything."

The Watermelon Woman

Cheryl is a young, African American lesbian who works in a video rental store in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her friend Tamara. They earn extra money by making professional home videos for people. Cheryl becomes interested in films from the 1930s and 40s which feature black actresses. She notices that these actresses are often not credited. She watches a film called ''Plantation Memories'' with a black actress who is credited simply as "The Watermelon Woman". Cheryl decides to make a documentary film about the Watermelon Woman and find out more about her life.

A naive teenager is sent to rehab camp when her straitlaced parents and friends suspect her of being a lesbian.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Hansel Schmidt is an East Germany "girly boy" who loves rock music, and is stuck in East Berlin until he meets Sergeant Luther Robinson, an American soldier. Luther proposes marriage to Hansel, planning to allow Hansel to leave communist East Germany for the capitalist West Germany. However, in order to be married, the couple must consist of a man and a woman and according to Luther, there will be "a full physical examination." Hansel's mother, Hedwig, gives her child her name and passport and finds a doctor to perform a Sex reassignment surgery. The operation is botched, however, leaving Hansel – now Hedwig – with a dysfunctional one-inch mound of flesh between her legs, the eponymous "Angry Inch".

Mysterious Skin

Two eight-year-old Little League teammates Neil McCormick and Brian Lackey both experience life-altering events in the summer of 1981 in Hutchinson, Kansas. Neil, the son of an irresponsible single mother and already discovering his homosexuality, is Child sexual abuse by the Little League coach, who leaves town after that summer. Brian, with a neglectful father and a mother who is often working, remembers it starting to rain during a game. The next thing he remembers is being in the crawl space of a house with a bloody nose, having no memory of the intervening five hours.

The Normal Heart

It is summer of 1981. Ned Weeks is an openly gay writer from New York City who travels to Fire Island Pines, New York on Long Island to celebrate the birthday of his friend Craig Donner at a beachhouse. Other friends in attendance include Mickey Marcus and the charismatic Bruce Niles, who has recently begun dating Craig, who is young and appears to be in good health. While walking on the beach, however, Craig feels dizzy and collapses. Later, when blowing out the candles on his birthday cake, Craig begins to cough repeatedly.
