Garfield

Garfield is a muti-media franchise created by the American cartoonist Jim Davis starring a lazy orange tabby named Garfield, his oddball owner Jon, Jon's dopey dog Odie, and their various peers.

Here Comes Garfield

1982

Garfield and Odie are outside harassing a neighbor's dog when the owner, Hubert, angrily calls the pound to capture them. When the dogcatcher arrives at the scene, Garfield flees, but Odie is too stupid to flee and is captured. Garfield decides to go home, but he is unable to tell Jon Arbuckle that Odie is in peril. Garfield soon realizes how boring life is without Odie around, so that night, Garfield decides to rescue him from the pound. Although Garfield successfully makes it to the pound, the dogcatcher captures him and later puts him behind bars. Garfield learns from another cat, Fast Eddie, that Odie is going to be euthanized the next day.

Garfield on the Town

1983

Jon Arbuckle becomes concerned about Garfield (character)'s behavior after he and Odie mess up his house. While Jon tries to take him to the veterinarian, Garfield accidentally falls out from Jon's car and later becomes lost in downtown. Garfield soon runs into a large gang of unfriendly alley cats known as the Claws. After antagonizing their leader, Garfield flees into an abandoned Italian restaurant, where he is reunited with his long lost mother. The building was Garfield's birthplace and where he discovered his love for lasagna. Meanwhile, Jon calls Garfield's vet, Dr. Liz Wilson, to tell her about Garfield's disappearance, but Liz hangs up on Jon instead.

Garfield's Halloween Adventure

1985

Garfield (character) is awakened early in the morning by the obnoxious ''Binky the Clown Show'' and learns that it is Halloween, becoming excited about trick-or-treating. He tricks Odie into thinking dogs are required to trick-or-treat with cats and give almost all of their candy to them, save one piece of candy for the dog. Odie is tempted by the minimal reward, and the two head for the attic to find costumes in an old trunk. After considering a number of options, Garfield decides he and Odie will be pirates.

A Garfield Christmas Special

1987

In a dream, Garfield (character) is awakened by his owner Jon Arbuckle dressed as an Christmas elf, who feeds him a large amount of lasagna before giving him his gift, a robotic Santa Claus which reads minds and produces whatever Garfield wants. When Jon actually wakes up Garfield, he tells him that it is "Christmas Eve morning" and they and Odie are going to the countryside to celebrate Christmas with Jon's family on their farm. Garfield is annoyed that they always go to the farm and the family never comes to Jon's house. During his drive to his family's farm, Jon talks about Christmases he had when he was a boy, with his parents, brother Doc Boy, and Grandma, while Garfield listens with great cynicism.

Curious cat Garfield, his friend Odie the dog, and their owner Jon constantly get into trouble as they live out wild adventures together.

Garfield's Babes and Bullets

1989

Feeling bored, Garfield looks into a closet and finds a trenchcoat and fedora (hat). Donning both, he begins to fantasize he is Sam Spade, a second-rate private investigator in a film noir atmosphere. Sam receives a visit from Tanya O'Tabby, a beautiful woman who hires Sam to investigate the death of her husband, Professor O'Tabby, who apparently drove off a clifftop road. Tanya believes it was murder, as her husband was an excellent driver, but the death was ruled as a simple car accident. Despite initially suspecting foul play, Sam agrees to take the case.

Garfield's Thanksgiving

1989

Garfield and Odie scare Jon out of bed with military music and drill sergeant attitudes as he demands pancakes the size of Australia and plenty of coffee for breakfast. After the meal, Garfield decides to take a nap but changes his mind to kick Odie off the table. Along the way, Garfield checks the calendar date and discovers to his horror that he has an appointment with the vet today. When he removes the date hoping to make Jon forget, he then notices that tomorrow is Thanksgiving and instantly demands Jon to buy the Thanksgiving food. On the way home from the supermarket, though, Jon remembers the vet appointment, and this causes Garfield to scream all the way to the office.

Garfield Gets a Life

1991

Jon now recognizes that he needs a life, an escape from his boring existence as the guy who arranges his sock drawer. Garfield found a book called ''How to Make Friends and Fool the Rest''. He tries to find some girls around town, but none of them are impressed, and they all find him to be a dweeb. After several failed attempts to attract girls at the park one day, Jon feels extremely blue, so as it begins to rain, he decides to "get it out" by singing while playing a steel-stringed guitar (a reference to ''Singin' in the Rain''), but this annoys a Bodybuilder who takes Jon's guitar, and stomps on it, to which Garfield replies "And I thought fat people were jolly".

Jon Arbuckle buys a second pet, a dog named Odie. However, Odie is then abducted and it is up to Jon's cat, Garfield, to find and rescue the canine.

Garfield 2: A Tail of Two Kitties

2006

Jon Arbuckle plans to propose to his girlfriend Dr. Liz Wilson, who is going on a business trip to London. Jon follows her to the United Kingdom as a surprise; After escaping from the kennel, Garfield (character) and Odie sneak into Jon's luggage and join him on the road trip. Garfield and Odie break out of the hotel room due to boredom, and subsequently get lost on the streets of London.

Garfield Gets Real

2007

Garfield (character) (Frank Welker) lives with canine Odie (Gregg Berger) and Jon Arbuckle (Wally Wingert) in a what appears to be a suburban town inhabited by cartoon characters (known as Comic Strip World). Garfield and the gang work at Comic studios with other comic characters. The comic strip is made in Comic Strip world, and sent to "Muncie, Indiana" where it is made in the newspaper.

Garfield and his friends enter a talent contest, the Fun Fest, but as the audience was not entertained by his performance another cat (with bigger muscles and an accent) arrives to compete against him, Leonard.

Garfield's Pet Force

2009

On the planet Dorkon, Professor Wally (The professor counterpart to Wally) shows Emperor Jon (the Emperor counterpart to Jon Arbuckle) his new invention, The Moscram ray gun, a device powered by the Klopman crystal that can scramble inanimate objects and organisms into new creatures under the user's control. But Emperor Jon is concerned about finding a wife to continue the royal bloodline. Soon a warship lands outside the palace. Emperor Jon sees Vetvix (the super-villain counterpart to Liz), and asks her if he can marry her. She agrees, but only because she wanted to steal the Moscram Ray Gun. She zombifies Emperor Jon's guards. Professor Wally calls the Pet Force: Garzooka (Garfield (character)'s superhero counterpart, voiced by Frank Welker), who can spit green hairballs out of his mouth, Odious (Odie's superhero counterpart, voiced by Gregg Berger), who can whack and move objects with his powerful tongue, Abnermal (List of Garfield characters#Nermal's superhero counterpart, voiced by Jason Marsden), who can run at an amazing speed and Starlena (List of Garfield characters#Arlene's superhero counterpart, voiced by Audery Wasilewski), who can freeze her enemies by staring at them. But Vetvix zombifies every member of the Pet Force except Garzooka. He manages to get hold of the Klopman Crystal and escapes with Professor Wally in a secret passageway. The professor uses his computer to search the universe for counterparts with DNA matches with the Pet Force. Professor Wally finds the counterparts, and gives Garzooka their pictures and some serums that will transform their counterparts into the Pet Force, and he flies away in his space ship to the Comic Strip World leaving Professor Wally behind with Vetvix vowing for revenge.
