When a jovial mountain man, Joe Crane, arrives in the pueblo, he is threatened with arrest for traveling in Spanish territory without official permission. Sergeant Garcia warns him to leave town but changes his mind when Crane buys him a few drinks in the tavern. Not all of Crane's problems can be solved so easily, however, for when he kisses a passing barmaid, he angers Don Carlos Fernandez so greatly that the landowner attacks the visitor.
Crane immediately responds by knocking his attacker to the floor, which causes Fernandez's bodyguard to try to kill the mountain man. Diego deflects the shot, but Garcia is forced to arrest Crane and take him to jail for his own safety. Knowing Fernandez's temper, Diego is sure he will still try to kill Crane, so that night Zorro hides near the jail.
Zorro sneaks inside, steals the keys, and frees Crane so he can hide in the hills. The precaution is a wise one, for Fernandez does come to the jail that night. Finding it empty, he vows to track Crane down and kill him, figuring it as an easy chore for Crane is on foot.
Joe Crane, un trappeur, vient tout juste de débarquer à Los Angeles. Serviable, il aide Bernardo à se sortir d'une rivière dans laquelle il s'est embourbé avec son chariot. Lorsque Crane se rend à l'auberge pour boire un verre, il fait preuve d'un sans-gêne qui ne tarde pas à le mettre dans l'embarras...
Egy hegylakó bukkan fel Los Angelesben. Hangoskodó, bajkeverő, de aranyból van a szíve. Hamar összeütközésbe kerül egy Los Angeles-i földbirtokossal, aki a hegylakótól elszenvedett sérelme miatt bosszút esküszik. Garcia őrmester, hogy megmentse a hegylakót, börtönbe csukja. A kocsmárosné gyöngéd érzelmeket táplál a hegylakó iránt. Úgy dönt, hogy kiszabadítja a börtönből. Tervének megvalósításában Zorro lesz segítségére.
Quando uno spensierato montanaro, Joe Crane, arriva nel pueblo, viene minacciato di essere arrestato per trovarsi sul suolo spagnolo senza permesso. Il Sergente Garcia lo invita a lasciare la città, ma cambia idea quando il buon uomo gli offre da bere alla taverna. I guai non sono finiti per Crane infatti, baciando una barista in maniera rude, scatena l’ira di Don Carlos Fernandez che lo sfida. Dopo uno scontro Crane ha la meglio sul suo avversario. Don Carlos va su tutte le furie e così Garcia è costretto ad arrestare il montanaro per evitargli guai peggiori. Diego è sicuro che il ricco signore, per difendere il proprio onore, avrebbe tentato di uccidere Crane perciò la notte veste i panni di Zorro e libera l'uomo appena prima dell’arrivo di Don Carlos che però non si rassegna ed è deciso più che mai ad ottenere la sua vendetta.
