Dem Erfinder Mr. Pem gelingt es, mit Hilfe eines Energieverstärkers die Zeit beliebig zu manipulieren. Er schickt die Seaview eine Million Jahre in die Vergangenheit. Admiral Nelson versucht den skrupellosen Pem zu überlisten, um die Seaview zu retten.

While on a mission, the Seaview appears to pass through an odd magnetic field. However, a dinosaur and alterations in the star patterns indicate that they have been thrown back in time one million years. Nelson encounters the mysterious Mr. Pem, a man who has learned how to control time, and wants to use the Seaview as a powerful source of energy for his time device. Nelson must try to outwit a man who can simply back up time and alter anything they attempt to do.
El Seaview se encuentra con dificultades técnicas. Cuando emerge a la superficie, el Almirante y el Capitán observan un eclipse total de sol que no estaba previsto y algo, parecido a un dinosaurio, se asoma a la ventana de observación. La hipótesis de Nelson es que han retrocedido un millón de años en la Historia. Por el submarino se pasea un curioso personaje que dice poseer una máquina del tiempo.
