Die Seaview fängt einen Notruf von Dr. Thompson auf, der auf einer Insel mit Pflanzen experimentiert. Doch Admiral Nelson kommt zu spät, Thompson stirbt. Ahnungslos nimmt der Admiral eine von Thompsons Orchideen mit an Bord. Die Pflanze entpuppt sich als Alien.

A scientist experimenting with plant life on a remote island has run into trouble. A shore party from Seaview arrives only in time to hear his dying warning that the world will be taken over in eight hours. Nelson brings aboard the only unusual thing he can find -- a red orchid, which proves to be a malign alien (that proceeds to take over his mind and those of the crew).
Nelson, Sharkey y un marinero recalan en una isla, respondiendo a la llamada de socorro de un científico que, antes de morir, les previene contra un extraño invasor que pretende destruir a la humanidad. Después de acercarse a una orquídea, que el científico tenía en su lugar de trabajo, el marinero dispara contra sus oficiales. Trasladan la planta al Seaview, y ésta parece apoderarse de la voluntad del Almirante.
