Emily verteilt angesichts der anstehenden Wahlen Flugblätter, wird dabei jedoch verhaftet und vor Gericht gestellt.
The high staked General Elections are drawing closer. The magnates have their own candidate, the Unionist extremist Albert Hatton. The fact that Pirrie does not support Hatton makes him an enemy of the ruling class. Michael is campaigning for Labour. His sister Emily helps him. But she gets arrested for giving out leaflets. This is a political measure, and Emily is only the scapegoat. On the ship front, Mark's proposition to erect higher bulkheads to defend Titanic is crushed by Ismay, the Chairman of White Star Lines, the company Titanic is being built for. When the elections occur, Albert Hatton wins a handsome majority. The third candidate, Michael, only gets a very small number of votes. Protestant and anti Home Rule extremists fume with rage and hatred, and Michael is assaulted, cruelly beaten and forced from Belfast. His brother Conor has become a terrorist and has taken lives. Even more disgusted with the ways of Belfast, Sofia now wants to leave and go to London. She asks Mark to go with her. But Mark is forced to make a choice between Sofia and searching for his daughter. He chooses to stay in Belfast.

Le résultat des élections proclamé oblige M.Pirrie à adopter un compromis peu confortable. Michael est victime d'une agression et doit quitter la ville. Sofia annonce à Mark qu'elle va partir à Londres. New York va prolonger son embarcadère, le Titanic pourra y accoster.
Las elecciones generales se están acercando. Los riesgos son muy altos. Los magnates tienen su propio candidato, el sindicalista extremista Albert Hatton, gerente en una de las fábricas de Carlton. El hecho de que lord Pirrie no sea compatible con Hatton le convierte en un enemigo oficial para la mayor parte de la clase dominante. Mientras tanto, Michael está haciendo campaña y su hermana Emily le ayuda. Pero un día, que es arrestada por repartir folletos en lo que se considera una asociación ilícita, es llevada a juicio y encarcelada. Está claro que esta es una medida política, y que Emily es sólo el chivo expiatorio de una batalla que no tiene nada que ver con ella.
Por otro lado, en la parte frontal del Titanic, Mark propone reforzarla más y cuenta con el apoyo de Pirrie y Andrews, pero se enfrentará a la oposición de Ismay, presidente de la White Star Lines.
