Charlie Bouton will seine neueste Entwicklung "Mary 25"- ein anorganisches Kindermädchen - auf den Markt bringen. "Mary 25" ist darauf programmiert, Kinder vor jeglicher Bedrohung zu beschützen. Dazu bietet Charlie einen Feldversuch mit seinen eigenen Kindern an. Doch Charlies Frau Teryl will mit Hilfe des Programmierers Melburn Ross "Mary 25" umprogrammieren - zur Mörderin gegen Charlie.

Charlie Bouton's (Tom Butler) last project for the Innobotics Corporation was a sexy female companion robot named Valerie 23. It almost put the company out of business when it went berserk and attacked someone. So, his bosses are skeptical when he and scientist Melburn Ross (Michael Shanks) introduce Mary 25 (Sophia Shinas), a nanny robot adapted from the earlier model. In order to overcome their doubts, Charlie proposes letting the robot take care of his own children - a move that is met by serious resistance from his wife Teryl (Cynthia Geary) and his children Brad and Brook. From the beginning, there are problems. Unlike the human nanny, Carmen, Mary doesn't grasp the subtleties of child care and Melburn must fine tune her. But, Melburn sees that the problems go beyond Mary's programming. Charlie is smitten with his inorganic creation and has begun to abuse Teryl - a woman with whom Melburn was once romantically involved.

Cela fut un désastre et faillit mettre la compagnie en faillite lorsque le robot se mit à attaquer quelqu'un... La compagnie est donc septique lorsque lui et le scientifique Melburn Ross leur présentent Mary 25, un robot "nounou". Afin de lever tous doutes possibles, Charlie propose à la compagnie de laisser Mary 25 s'occuper de ses propres enfants. Une chose que refusent catégoriquement sa femme et ses deux enfants, Brad et Brook. Les choses se révèlent aussi désastreuses qu'avec Valérie 23...

Tras el fracaso del proyecto Valerie 23 (Temporada 1, Episodio 3) los directivos de la compañía se proponen retomar de nuevo el proyecto basado en un robot inorgánico similar al anterior pero mejorando la seguridad y cuya función en este caso será la de hacer de niñera (Mary 25). El director del proyecto, ante la negativa por parte de la empresa a arriesgarse a que el robot vuelva a hacer daño a alguien, decide que sean sus propios hijos los que sean cuidados por Mary 25 para demostrar su aparente seguridad.
