Die Sheffields geraten diesmal in Erziehungsfragen aneinander, und da passiert Maxwell etwas Unverzeihliches: Er nennt Fran in einem Interview nicht „meine Frau“, sondern „meine Nanny“! Fran ist natürlich sehr gekränkt und hegt Zweifel, ob Maxwell in ihr überhaupt eine gleichwertige Partnerin sieht. Da sie es nicht schafft, den Rat ihrer Mutter, ihren Mann einfach mit Liebesentzug zu bestrafen, zu befolgen, schmiedet sie einen Plan: Sie engagiert eine neue Nanny! Die robuste Nanny Bowers merkt jedoch schon an ihrem ersten Tag, dass sie im Hause Sheffield eigentlich gar nicht gebraucht wird, während Fran die Erfahrung macht, dass sie den Freizeitaktivitäten einer „Dame der Gesellschaft“ nicht viel abgewinnen kann und sich viel lieber selbst um „ihre“ drei Kinder kümmern möchte. Schließlich versöhnen sich Maxwell und Fran und sind sich auch in Erziehungsfragen plötzlich einig wie nie zuvor.
Brighton wants to go to Atlantic City, and after his father says no he goes to Fran for help. But Maxwell is implacable and won't give in, so Brighton plays Fran against him saying he doesn't respect her or her opinion. Maxwell calls Fran the nanny and Sylvia advices Fran to hold up on "the bing-bing", but Fran can't. Her solution: hire a new nanny and act more like a wife. But Fran can't fit in among the snobbish country club people, and decides she should be in the house, both as nanny and as wife, since it was her (as the nanny) whom Maxwell fell in love with in the first place.

Maxwell utiliza la palabra niñera para hablar de Fran, ella se enfada y contrata a una nana. En su tiempo libre, pasa el rato en el club de campo, pero pronto sentirá que ese no es su lugar, porque ella es una niñera con un nuevo nombre: mamá.
