Bauunternehmer Ron Hassey kann aufatmen: Die Kanzlei Fallin & Fallin hat vor Gericht durchgesetzt, dass die besetzten Häuser, die er abreißen lassen will, zwangsgeräumt werden. Die Rechtshilfe muss unterdessen die jetzt Obdachlosen auffangen. Zu ihnen gehört auch Mr. Longo, der schon seit Jahrzehnten in dem Abbruchhaus wohnt. Die schwangere Lulu will dem freundlichen alten Herrn und seinem Enkel Donnie helfen, indem sie "Ersitzung" und damit ein Wohnrecht geltend macht. So schnell gibt sich Burton allerdings nicht geschlagen. Alvin bekommt es unterdessen mit dem ebenfalls obdachlos gewordenen Ray Schmiel zu tun. Er hat angeblich einst mit Alvins Vater dieselbe Schule besucht und wickelt Alvin nun mit alten Geschichten ein, damit er ihm eine gute Unterkunft vermittelt ...
Nick tries to find a place for Donny Longo & his Grandfather to live together, but Donny has a hard time with Rebecca's ruling (the Judge that handled the shelter hearing). Meanwhile Burton must try to get Mr. Lounge's house back from a man that bought it at an auction.

Nick learns that Mr. Longo used the property for bad purposes that caused Mr. Longo to lose custody of Donny.

L'affarista Ron deve rientrare immediatamente in possesso di uno stabile attualmente occupato da un anziano malato e dal nipote Donny. L'uomo d'affari chiede aiuto a Burton e Nick per far sloggiare tutti gli abusivi all'interno dell'edificio. L'uomo anziano subisce un attacco di cuore e Laurie ordina a Nick di occuparsi del caso di Donny. Nick non può quindi assistere il cliente dello studio "Fallin & Fallin". Alvin vorrebbe candidarsi alle elezioni per il Consiglio Municipale ma Abby tenta di scoraggiarlo. A prezzo di grossi sforzi, Alvin riesce a trovare un tetto a Ray, un barbone alcolista che afferma di aver conosciuto suo padre al liceo. I due diventano amici, ma ben presto Alvin scopre che Ray ha mentito ed è stato cacciato dalla Hewlett House per possesso di anfetamina. Lulu assume la difesa del nonno di Donny e utilizza la tesi dell'usucapione per sostenere che l'uomo ha tutto il diritto di rimanere nella sua casa. Ma alla fine l'avvocatessa è costretta ad accettare un patteggiamento economico quando viene alla luce che Donny teneva in casa della droga all'insaputa del vecchio per pagare tutte le spese.
