It has been 20 years since the first series of the Fast Show, but the characters created by the team are still going strong. In this episode Swiss Toni holds forth on bicycles, foreign TV station Channel 9 attempts to fit three hours of news into 30 seconds, eco-warrior Dave Angel is not happy about the breakfast arrangements on his recent eco summit in Helsinki, and Bob Fleming and Jed Thomas emulate Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon in their version of The Trip.
Recorded live at London's Hammersmith Apollo in 1998, The Fast Show Live features all of the original cast of the highly successful sketch series (Caroline Aherne excepted) including Paul Whitehouse, Simon Day, Charlie Higson and Arabella Weir and practically all of their myriad characters and catchphrases. This live show effectively marks a last hurrah for The Fast Show team, with routines like the Coughing Bob Fleming singalong reworked from the series. However, as a feat of inventive stage management and quick costume changing, they do manage to maintain the Fastness of the TV series live.
There's Dave Angel Eco Warrior, Ted & Ralph, Arthur Atkinson, Jazz Club, Bob Fleming (coughing his way through the final Country Matters Show), Dave The Hairbrush & The Cardinal - "you mug, you slag, you muppet" - in the spoof film 'A Right Royal Cockney Barrel of Monkeys'. It's also your chance to say goodbye to Ron Manager who, fed up and shagged out, is leaving the Beeb to join the greed-filled scum at ITV. Oh, and there's, ooh sir, Johnny Depp, trying his very, very best in a 'Suits You' sketch.
Celebrating 21 years of the Fast Show in an exclusive interview with Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson, hosted by Danny Wallace.
Paul Whitehouse, Charlie Higson, Arabella Weir, John Thomson, Simon Day and Mark Williams reunite to remember more than twenty-five years of a true icon of British comedy - and they're bringing the likes of Swiss Toni, Dave Angel, Jesse, No Offence, Professor Denzil Dexter and Rowley Birkin QC with them.
We've gathered together The Fast Show gang to chat to journalist Emma Cox about their finest moments and delve into the archives, ahead of their reunion show 'The Fast Show: Just a Load of Blooming Catchphrases'; a two hour extravaganza that interviews the cast and their much-loved characters, intertwined with classic clips and some rarely seen footage. We are joined by Paul Whitehouse, Charlie Higson, Arabella Weir, John Thomson and Simon Day as they lift the lid on how The Fast Show happened, why it became such a cult classic, and how it felt to bring their characters back over 25 years later for this new special.
