An engine issue resulting from the use of the Wave Motion Gun results in a partial failure of the artificial gravity aboard the Argo. To address the problem, Avatar orders the ship to sail for Titan, where the mineral -- titanite -- needed to repair the energy-transmission unit can be found. Two teams are sent out on the surface of Titan, one to collect environmental samples, and the other to obtain the titanite. While the Argo holds orbit over Titan, the Gamilons take the opportunity to scan the battleship, and dispatch a local patrol to the surface of Titan in the hopes of capturing some of the titanite team crew -- Wildstar, Nova, and IQ-9. Wildstar and IQ-9 fend off two Gamilon tanks, and take out the Gamilon patrol team sent to capture them. In the process of doing so, Wildstar discovers his brother's ship, the Paladin, as well as his side-arm. Although initially hopeful that his brother Alex may have survived the crash landing, Wildstar soon accepts that he is dead. Back aboard the Argo, Avatar questions Wildstar as to the find, then informs the younger Wildstar that his brother will live on in him.

Mentre l'Argo si trova in orbita intorno alla luna Titano, sulla cui superficie Nova, IQ-9 e Derek stanno raccogliendo campioni di titanite per riparare l'unita' di trasmissione, Gantz si accorge che i livelli di energia della nave nemica sono insolitamente bassi. Decide così di sfruttare l'occasione e attacca la nave terrestre. Non appena le forze di Gamilon vengono avvistate, il Capitano Avatar richiama a bordo i tre membri che si trovano su Titano ma Derek disubbidisce agli ordini e continua a cercare la titanite, vitale per il funzionamento della nave. Quando un deposito del minerale viene individuato Derek e gli altri vengono attaccati da una pattuglia di Gamilon. Dopo essersi sbarazzati del nemico, non senza qualche problema, Derek trova i resti di una astronave intrappolata nei ghiacci. Riconosce la Paladin, la nave comandata da Alex Wildstar, e vi trova una pistola riportante l'emblema della sua famiglia, proprio la pistola di suo fratello!Derek rimane turbato dal ritrovamento e inizia a credere che suo fratello possa essere in qualche modo sopravvissuto all'attacco in cui la sua flotta fu distrutta su Plutone. Intanto, l'Argo ha sconfitto le armate inviate da Gantz e recupera a bordo il carico di titanite con Derek, Nova e IQ-9. Avatar chiede speranzoso se c'erano sopravvissuti fra i rottami della Paladin ma la risposta di Derek è negativa. Avatar piange in silenzio mentre l'Argo riprende il suo viaggio. Mancano 359 giorni.
