Matt is suspicious of an old swagman, Mr Trundle, who comes to the Waratah National Park. Sonny is taken in by all the man's tales of his life. When he leaves, he gives Sonny a present of an antinque watch. Worried about the gift, Matt takes it to the local police station, where he learns about the real person who owned the watch and his secret.
Deep in the heart of the Waratah National Park, Skippy watches as Rocky Miller, who is attending a boxing camp, takes the Ranger Helicopter for a joyride. When he loses control of the helicopter and forced to land, Rocky gets the courage to stand up to his father and get out of the boxing business which he has hated all his life.
Clancy's mother is coming to see how she is going, before she is due to arrive, Clancy goes horse riding. Her short ride is soon change when she is thrown from her horse and is left stranded and lost in the Park. As she wanders, a group of Aborigines find her, and lead her back safely to the Park headquarters.
Sonny and Skippy are enjoying themselves at a picnic ground when a bull attacks a pair of picnickers, who end up trapped in their car. Sonny does his best to distract the bull, but just as things start going wrong for Sonny, his father, Mark and Gus turn up and Sonny watches in surprise as Gus calms the bull down.
Sonny comes down ill and Matt asks the neighbour to get some cough medicine for him. The neighbour agrees as he is going to town to get some medicine for his horse, which he accidently gives to Matt. A stubborn Sonny doesn't want the medicine, which gives the neighbour enough time to return and swap them back.
A gang of criminals led by Meredith is looking for sunken treasure off Mallacoota, pretending to be diving for abalone. Sonny, son of Matt Hammond, the Chief Ranger of Waratah National Park, investigates with their family friend, Clancy. Sonny and Clancy are kidnapped. Skippy comes to the rescue. After a speedboat chase and a fight in the sand dunes, Meredith is captured.
