At Toronto’s Sunnybrook Regional Trauma Centre, neurosurgery fellows and orthopaedic residents discover they’ve got to learn on their feet, fast, if they hope to save an electrical worker, who, after falling out of his crane, is at risk of a coma that only emergency surgery can hope to remedy; while a fallen tree sends another man into trauma with multiple injuries and severe pain, forcing the new resident on call to trust his instincts to save his life. And a woman falls down a flight of stairs and is rushed to trauma with a deep bleed in her brain that could lead to stroke if not urgently addressed. The neurosurgery resident must help to save her from stroke and coma, but the surgery is a steep and tough learning curve for him.
