Documentary following 10 strangers at turning points in their lives who are brought together to take over an Italian farm in the foothills of Mount Amiata, adjusting to the challenges of communal living in another country. In the first episode, they face the difficult tasks of bringing in a harvest of Merlot grapes and keeping the local wild boar at bay.
The group begin to settle into rural living after their first week living in Tuscany, but a storm forces them to race against time to complete the ambitious Sangiovese grape harvest, and rescue the farm's biggest income. Meanwhile, the group members look to expand the farm's potential with a new Bed and Breakfast venture, and begin to renovate an empty out-building. However, as the first guests start to arrive, all does not go according to plan, and temperamental Tuscan plumbing puts a spanner in the works for their grand ambitions.
After the success of their B&B venture, the group decide to open a restaurant called La Banditaccia on the farm. To get some inspiration for their menu, some of the group head to the city of Florence, and take in the delights of the local markets. On their return, they invite some locals for dinner at the farm, and offer them their unique take on Italian cuisine. However, the group are soon impelled to turn their attention to the upcoming olive harvest when a swarm of flies heading towards the region puts the olives under threat.
The group prepare for the annual autumnal olive harvest at La Banditaccia farm, but interest soon wanes after the scale and arduous reality of the task hits home and the challenge of the harvest begins to split the camp. Two members of the group make it a personal mission to ensure that owner Maurizio's precious olives are picked, pressed and turned into extra virgin olive oil before they reach their peak, while others decide that they want to focus on hosting more B&B guests at the farm instead.
Love is in the air at La Banditaccia, as the group prepare to host their first big event on the farm, a traditional Italian wedding. Faced with the language barrier and different cultural traditions, they find themselves under a great deal of pressure to make sure they get everything right for this very special occasion. As the wedding day dawns, the group faces the challenge of preparing a feast of authentic Tuscan cuisine, hoping to impress a party of 40 discerning Italian guests.
The group enjoy their last few days together on the La Banditaccia farm, before reflecting on what they have learnt about themselves during their stay, and saying their final goodbyes. There's a chance of a lifetime on the horizon for one member of the group, while others reach some surprising conclusions about their future in Italy. Last in the series.
