Catholic Reformation (16th - 18th Cent.)

In the center of Rome , close to the synagogue, in the middle of the sixteenth century , the locals decided to build a shrine dedicated to a miracle he has witnessed . In front of a heinous crime human tears flowing down the face of a figure of Mary painted on a wall . But the sanctuary , in the course of the next four centuries , is impossible to complete. The mystery around the difficulties that occurred for its realization , and even more on the meaning of the miracle , it becomes an opportunity to draw a picture of the Church of the '500 and in particular the Catholic Reformation , in a new light. Today the church of St. Mary of the Wailing held by the Oblates of the Virgin Mary . By a strange coincidence the current rector , p.Angelo Benolli OMV , including in the sixties the need to overcome just that laceration between Faith and Reason that was defining in 500, during the same years in which the tears flowed on the fresco . He thus founded the association Solidarity Italy , to " bring Science to Faith and Faith to Life " , in order to help people in deeper . A volunteer of Italian Solidarity , Daniela Fortini, then tells the example of the missions in Rwanda, where this type of work has brought wonderful fruits of peace after the terrible genocide of '94.
