Na Červeném trpaslíku je vyhlášen poplach - počítač Holy odhalila totiž ve vesmíru řadu nebezpečných černých děr. Posádka musí okamžitě opustit loď, se kterou se Holy pokusí prokličkovat jejich minovým polem, a podaří-li se to, budou se všichni moci za dvanáct hodin vrátit. Nebyli by to ovšem naši hrdinové, aby se jim i během této relativně krátké doby nepodařilo zažít úžasné a neuvěřitelné dobrodružství. Tentokrát se jeho protagonisty stanou Rimmer a Lister...
Holly’s discovery of “five black holes” in Red Dwarf’s path prompts the crew to abandon ship, Rimmer and Lister crashing on a nearby ice planet when Starbug collides with a meteorite. With hope fading as the days pass, the marooned pair must sacrifice more than just their rivalry to survive, Lister’s diet reduced to dog food and the only thing he hates more: Pot Noodles. The need for firewood, meanwhile, soon imperils their most prized possessions: Rimmer’s camphor wood trunk and Lister’s guitar.
De crew verlaat het schip wanneer Holly hen waarschuwt dat er vijf zwarte gaten op de route van de Red Dwarf liggen. De starbug wordt getroffen door een meteoriet waarna Rimmer en Lister vast komen te zitten op een ijsplaneet.
