Luffy recalls his childhood wih Ace, meeting him again in Arabasta and receiving his Vivre Card, meeting Blackbeard in Jaya without knowing who he was, hearing the news about Ace's execution, and confronting Blackbeard in Impel Down. Ace, awaiting his execution in Marineford, recalls his encounter with Blackbeard.
Rufy ricorda diversi momenti del suo passato legati agli eventi che lo attendono. Il ragazzo riporta alla mente la sua infanzia assieme ad Ace, la riunione con quest'ultimo ad Alabasta, occasione nella quale ha ricevuto la sua Vivre Card, il momento in cui ha saputo dell'esecuzione del fratello, l'incontro con Barbanera ed il confronto con quest'ultimo ad Impel Down.
