The fifth season of the National Heads-Up Poker Championship was filmed in 2009 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. Some of poker's best players and brightest stars were part of the 64-entrant field, and included defending champion Chris Ferguson and runner-up Andy Bloch, along with previous champions Phil Hellmuth, Ted Forrest, and Paul Wasicka. Also in the field are WSOP champions Doyle Brunson, Chris Moneymaker, Scotty Nguyen, Joe Hachem, Huck Seed, Greg Raymer, Peter Eastgate, Jerry Yang, and Johnny Chan, alongside poker stars Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, Sammy Farha, Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak, Tom Dwan, Gabe Kaplan, Don Cheadle, and Gus Hansen.
