Yoichi heads to Kyoto to visit the old man who makes knives, Takizawa, and sees a young girl undergoing ablutions at the Takizawa residence. She is none other than Shokichi, who has been acting like a young boy for the sake of his training. Yoichi tells Takizawa that he has also come to have a knife made for him, and once again comes into conflict with Shokichi. He then offers to make him cold Chinese noodles again.
包丁老人・滝沢を訪ねた陽一は、滝沢邸で斎戒沐浴する少女を見る。彼女こそ修行のため少年のように振る舞っていた章吉だった。包丁をめぐって章吉と再び対立した陽一は、再度冷やし中華を作ることを滝沢に申し出る。
