Nach einer Schießerei liegt Magnum im Koma. Sein spirituelles Alter Ego verbündet sich mit Mac, der ihm erlaubt, sich noch von seinen Freunden zu verabschieden. Während Higgins, T.C., Carol und die anderen in Trauer um Magnum zusammensitzen, tauchen plötzlich Michelle und Lily auf. Die beiden Frauen sind irgendwie in die Geschichte verwickelt und Magnum ist überzeugt davon, dass die Männer, die ihn angeschossen haben, hinter Michelle her sind. Er fleht um mehr Zeit auf Erden, um Michelles Leben zu retten. Und während Magnums Geist fieberhaft versucht, Michelle zu beschützen, versucht Higgins verzweifelt, den Privatdetektiv auch physisch aus seinem immer tiefer werdenden Koma zurückzuholen.
Thomas is delivering key evidence in his latest case to the court house, when he is shot in the parking lot by a hit man. Thomas, in a coma, discovers he is not dead, but not alive, and needs to help Michelle, who is in danger, and being chased by killers. He meets up with the ghost of his former Naval buddy Mac. He also spends time with each member of the cast individually, and, in one way or another, says good-bye and how important they are all to him, in case he does not survive.
Magnum est dans le coma à la suite d'un échange de coups de feu avec deux hommes. Son "esprit" rencontre Mac qui accepte de lui laisser du temps pour rendre visite à tous ses amis (qui eux ne peuvent le voir) et réévaluer ses relations avec eux. Persuadé que les deux hommes qui ont tiré sur lui en avaient après Michelle et Lily, Magnum mène l'enquête sur Edward Durant, l'homme que Michelle a décidé d'épouser...
Thomas sta per consegnare le prove decisive per un caso in tribunale quando viene colpito in un parcheggio da un killer. In coma Magnum scopre di essere in una sorta di limbo e presta aiuto a Michelle, inseguita da alcuni assassini e s'imbatte in Mac, il fantasma di un suo amico della Marina. Inoltre dice addio a tutti i suoi amici, in caso non dovesse riuscire a sopravvivere.
