Operations befiehlt Birkoff, eine terroristische Sekte zu infiltrieren, die sich auf Hacking gegen Regierungsorganisationen spezialisiert hat, obwohl Madeline davor gewarnt hat, daß nur eine 20%ige Erfolgschance besteht. Als erstes muß Birkoff seine Aufrichtigkeit gegenüber Jean-Marc, dem Anführer der Sekte, beweisen, bevor er als Mitglied akzeptiert wird. Als Birkoff jedoch schließlich erfährt, daß die Sekte für die Rote Zelle arbeitet, befiehlt Operations ihm auf unbestimmte Zeit dort zu bleiben, um noch mehr Informationen zu sammeln. Als Birkoff unter dem Druck zusammenbricht und seine Identität als Sektion Eins Mitglied offenbart, zwingt ihn Jean-Marc dazu, Informationen aus den Sektionscomputern zu stehlen. Um am Leben zu bleiben, gehorcht Birkoff, doch da Operations nun annimmt, daß er "umgedreht" wurde, muß er einen Weg finden, wie er alleine zu Sektion Eins zurückkehren kann...
After Birkoff chokes in the middle of remotely directing an operation and is then promptly upstaged by arch-nemesis Greg Hillinger who pulls the frying pan out of the fire and saves the mission, Operations promotes Hillinger to Birkoff's job and re-assigns Birkoff to his first field operation. Birkoff's mission is to infiltrate and perform reconnaissance on a mercenary terrorist organization "Soldat de la Liberty" run by a man named Jean-Marc Rousseau who employs brainwashing on young people to fill the ranks of his organization. Birkoff is convinced that Operation's real objective is to set him up with an impossible mission, so that Operations can eliminate Birkoff and permanently replace him with the more obsequious and pliable Hillinger. And sure enough, once inside the group Birkoff discovers ties between Rousseau's organization and the infamous Red Cell, and Operations refuses to extricate Birkoff preferring to leave him in place to gather more information. Après avoir manqué de faire échouer une opération, Birkoff est remplacé à son poste par Greg Hillinger. Operations réassigne Birkoff à son premier champ d'action. Sa mission est d'infiltrer et d'aller en reconnaissance au sein d'une organisation terroriste "Soldat de la Liberté", dirigée par un homme du nom de Jean-Marc Rousseau qui utilise le lavage de cerveau sur les jeunes gens pour remplir ses rangs.

Недовольный Шеф не просто смещает Биркоффа, но и посылает его на задание как оперативника, несмотря на возражения Мэдлин, ведь шансов на успех всего 20%. Биркоффу приказано внедриться в культовую молодежную группу, которая занимается антиправительственным хакерством, и перенаправить их файлы в Отдел. Все проходит успешно, и Биркофф уже ждет своего отзыва с миссии, но когда выясняется, что группа связана с Красной ячейкой, Шеф приказывает ему остаться на неопределенное время и собрать полную информацию об этом. Но Биркофа "раскусили", и чтобы остаться в живых ему приходится согласиться работать против Отдела. Используя "предательство" и опасно подставив Никиту, Биркоффу удается спровоцировать нападение на секту и свое возвращение в Отдел. Однако ему еще нужно доказать, что за "предательством" стояла рискованная, но просчитанная комбинация.
A pesar de que Madeline le advierte que las oportunidades de tener éxito no son superiores al 20%, Operations ordena a Birkoff que infiltre un culto terrorista que se especializa en atacar al gobierno a través de piratas de computadoras. Al principio, Birkoff se prueba a sí mismo frente a Jean Marc, el líder del culto, y es bienvenido como miembro. Sin embargo, cuando Birkoff se da cuenta de que el culto trabaja para Red Cell, Operations le dice que se quede allí indefinidamente a los fines de obtener más información. Cuando Birkoff no soporta la tensión y revela su identidad como agente de la Sección Uno, Jean Marc lo obliga a robar información de las computadoras de la Sección. Birkoff lo hace para poder seguir con vida, pero cuando Operations cree que él cambió de bando, Birkoff debe encontrar una vía para regresar a la Sección por su cuenta.
Operations obbliga Birkoff ad andare in missione come infiltrato in un gruppo di terroristi come hacker, nonostante l'opinione di Madeleine che ritiene il successo della missione inferiore al 20%. Bikoff viene accettato come nuovo membro dal capo del gruppo Jean-Marc che lo tratta con molto rispetto. Ma quando il ragazzo scopre che il gruppo ha legami con Cellula Rossa il suo recupero viene rimandato a tempo indefinito. Jean-Marc scopre che il ragazzo lavorava per la Sezione e lo obbliga a consegnargli informazioni. Birkoff deve trovare il modo per uscirne al più presto considerato che Operations lo crede un traditore.
