Mjr. Rabb vyšetřuje případ odstřelovače námořní pěchoty. Ten je obviněn z toho, že chtěl zastřelit velícího důstojníka a vystřelil na jeho automobil. Po rozmluvě s Rabbem dokonce uprchne z kasáren se zbraněmi. Rabb ho přivede zpět, když předtím zjistí, proč vše udělal a co ho k činu vedlo. Jelikož je přesvědčen, že požadavky odstřelovače jsou oprávněné, Rabb zinscenuje malou rekonstrukci, pomocí které dokáže skutečné úmysly odstřelovače. Tím ho také zprostí obvinění.
Obwohl Sgt. Crockett als Scharfschütze in Vietnam sehr erfolgreich war, möchte er nicht mehr an einem Krieg teilnehmen. Mit seinem Vorgesetzten hat er deshalb vereinbart, seine letzten drei Dienstjahre als Ausbilder zu dienen. Trotzdem schickt ihn sein neuer Chef, Col. Gordon, nach Bosnien. Crockett jagt dem davonfahrenden Colonel eine Kugel hinterher, die auf 800 Meter Entfernung den Rückspiegel des Jeeps trifft. Der Schuss wird Crockett als Mordversuch ausgelegt.

But there's a deal existing between him and his former commanding officers which says he won't be used in combat missions any longer. After shooting at the colonel 'to get his attention,' he is arrested. Since Crockett once saved Adm. Chegwidden's life, the Admiral orders an investigation to help him. But GSgt. Crockett escapes from the brig and hides in the mountains. Some marines, accompanied by Harm, go out to find Crockett, who's a well-trained and experienced sniper. Il Sergente tiratore scelto Crockett riceve l'ordine di andare in Bosnia dal colonnello del Campo dove presta servizio come istruttore.
