Es könnte ein perfekter Tag werden: Andy wird von Amanda überrascht, Ephram schwänzt mit Amy die Schule, und Harold freut sich auf einen Tag in der Praxis ohne Andy. Doch es kommt anders als geplant: Nina erwischt Andy und Amanda und stellt Andy entrüstet zur Rede. Und während die Schulschwänzer nicht wissen, was sie mit ihrer freien Zeit anfangen sollen, findet Harold die Praxis nach einem verheerenden Rohrbruch unter Wasser gesetzt vor.
Aus lauter Langeweile beschließen Amy und Ephram nun, auch Hannah aus der Schule zu holen und Bright von seinem Arbeitsplatz wegzulotsen. Andy und Amanda wird unterdessen klar, dass sie ihre Beziehung offen ausleben wollen, und Harold weicht in seiner Not auf Jakes Praxis aus. Dort erwartet ihn jedoch kurz vor Feierabend noch ein Haufen Arbeit: Bei einem Kindergeburtstag haben sich mehrere der kleinen Gäste eine Lebensmittelvergiftung zugezogen
Nina finds Andy and Amanda (Anne Heche) together causing her to question Andy and her friendship with him. Meanwhile, Ephram and Amy convince a reluctant Hannah to ditch school for the day and take Bright along for the ride as the recover from sending out college applications. Lastly, Harold and Edna are forced to work together despite their hostility toward each other when a medical emergency comes up at his office with the water pipes bursting.
Andy doit faire face aux conséquences de sa relation avec Amanda lorsque Nina les découvre ensemble, accidentellement. Pendant ce temps, Amy, Ephram et Bright convainquent Hannah de sécher les cours et de partir faire un tour avec eux. Stressati dall'imminente peso del college, Ephram ed Amy decidono di marinare la scuola, ma questo non basta a rendere la loro giornata meno monotona del solito. E' per questo che decidono di coinvolgere anche Hannah e Bright nell'iniziativa, e sebbene all'inizio non sembra migliorare granché, a fine giornata tutti saranno insolitamente più felici. Mentre Andy continua ad avere difficoltà in merito alla sua relazione con Amanda, specie ora che è stato scoperto da Nina, Harold è costretto ad affrontare una situazione di crisi tutto da solo quando lo studio medico alla stazione si allaga e deve servirsi dello studio del Dottor Hartman per curare un manipolo di ragazzini in lacrime dopo un avvelenamento da cibo.
Nina encuentra a Andy y Amanda juntos, lo que la lleva luego a plantearle a Andy qué tipo de amistad tienen. Finalmente, Harold y Edna se ven forzados a trabajar juntos, pese a que no se llevan bien, cuando hay una emergencia médica.
