Der große Tag ist da. Der Wettkampf beginnt. Son-Goku ist über seine enorme Kraft selbst vollkommen erstaunt. Auch die früheren Mitschüler von Kuririn, die ihn immer gehänselt haben, tauchen auf und Kuririn bekommt es mit der Angst zu tun. Doch von Son-Goku ermutigt kann er sie besiegen. Am Ende schaffen es beide und auch Yamchu, die Endrunde zu erreichen. Doch dort warten noch stärkere Gegener auf sie.
The preliminary rounds are divided into four sections, with the top two from each section going on to the finals. Goku and Krillin are drawn into the same section, but are on opposite ends, so they won't have to fight each other. Goku's first match is against a giant, but he is able to knock him out of the ring with only a slight tap to the leg. Krillin's first opponent is an enemy from his old martial arts school. He kicks his opponent so hard that he breaks a hole in the wall. Bulma, Oolong, and Puar are able to watch the matches through this hole. At the end of the day, Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha all advance to the final round of the World Martial Arts Tournament.
Krilin et Sangoku sont impressionnés par les participants. Ils rencontrent Yamcha qui participe au championnat ainsi que Jackye Chan un petit vieux très fort. Malgrès ses adversaires ils passent sans trop de problème les éliminatoires.
Goku, Crilin e Yamcha partecipano ai turni preliminari del torneo Tenkaichi, suddivisi in quattro sezioni e con i primi due classificati che accedono alla fase finale: Goku butta fuori dal ring un gigante sfiorandolo appena, mentre Crilin si vendica di un vecchio compagno alla scuola di arti marziali da lui frequentata precedentemente scaraventandolo contro il muro. Tutti e tre gli amici riescono via via a battere i rispettivi avversari e ad accedere in tal modo ai quarti di finale.
Comienzan las preliminares, los 137 participantes son divididos en cuatro grupos, lo dos ganadores de cada grupo podrán participar en la fase final del torneo. Gokū participa en la primera pelea del grupo 3 contra un enorme luchador... Gracias a sus entrenamientos Gokū, Krilin y Yamcha no tuvieron muchp problema.
天下第一武道大会开始了，全国来了130多位选手，但是能进入决赛的只有8位选手。首先进行预赛，大家都开始抽签为预赛做准备，不幸的是悟空与克林分到一个区里，这也是克林最不想看到的事。预赛的第一场就是悟空对付一个大力士。而对手却瞧不起矮小的悟空，悟空却不自卑，最后只用了一个手指就打败了大力士，这让旁边观看的其他选手大吃一惊。以及克林的战斗也十分精彩

La fase preliminar deixarà només vuit dels 137 participants en competició. Cadascun dels inscrits ha d'agafar un paper d'una caixa per saber a quin ring ha de lluitar. A en Goku i en Krilín els toca el tercer ring, però afortunadament no s'hauran d'enfrontar entre ells. En Iamxa lluitarà al segon ring.
En Goku i en Krilín derroten els seus contrincants amb un esforç mínim. En Krilín, casualment, s'enfronta a un dels seus antics companys d'entrenament i el guanya sense cap problema. En Iamxa també demostra que s'ha preparat bé. Tots tres es classifiquen per a la fase final. Però qui és, aquest misteriós Jackie Chun que sembla tan flemàtic?
