Ran believes her mother is having an affair with another man after finding a picture of her with another guy. She and Conan decide to get down to the truth, and spy on her and the man while they are at a restaurant, but Conan figures there is more to the man than meets the eye.

Ran si reca nell'ufficio di Eri con Conan. Eri, però, riceve una telefonata di un uomo ed esce per incontrarlo. Dopo avere ritrovato la fede all'interno del cestino dell'ufficio, Ran teme che la madre abbia una relazione e decide di pedinarla.
Ran se lleva a Conan a visitar a su madre para recordarle que es el aniversario de la primera cita con Kogoro. Ran encuentra a Eri destante y cree que tiene un amante por lo que decide seguirle hasta la cafetería en donde ambos habían quedado para sorpresa de Ran, sus peores sospechas se confirman.
