Upon realizing his boss and his girlfriend have both been implanted, John insists on trying to get Kim to reject the parasite. Following the operation's success, John and Kim get word to President Kennedy of the danger. Yet, after being promised he'll inform the nation once he's re-elected, they are shocked when the President is assassinated. And certain it was the work of Bach, they are forced into a life on the run.

1961. John Loengard e Kimberly Sayers arrivano a Washington. John viene assunto al Campidoglio come assistente di Charles Pratt, membro del Congresso degli Stati Uniti e Kim entra nello staff di Jackie Kennedy. Durante un'indagine voluta da Pratt per individuare progetti governativi da eliminare, John s'imbatte nel Blue Book, un progetto nato per studiare i fenomeni alieni. Una coppia racconta a Loengard l'avvistamento di un UFO. In seguito John viene aggredito da un gruppo di uomini capeggiati dal capitano Bach, il quale gli intima di stare alla larga dal Blue Book. Bach decide di reclutare John nel Majestic 12 e gli mostra alcune prove inconfutabili dell'esistenza degli extraterrestri, gli Hive, provenienti da un UFO precipitato a Roswell nel 1947.
