Tensions run high at the Lougheed family concrete construction business when owners Billy and Danielle are faced with a tight deadline to put in a bid on an important new job. When Billy tries to enlist the help of his father Sarge and best friend Chubby on a few simple errands, they prove to be little help. Meanwhile, his mother Joan keeps herself busy meticulously cleaning his house--even ironing his underwear.
Chubby and Joan team up to sell her popular meatballs out of a food truck, which sends Billy's day into a tailspin. When he gets into the office he finds that everything is going wrong--and he can't turn to Chubby for help. When equipment goes missing Sarge decides to step up and help with the search, but his mission comes to a grinding halt when he runs into a Tiny-sized wall.
Billy and Sarge's work day goes awry when their competitive spirits get the best of them and they skip out to go to a shooting range. With Billy distracted, Chubby and Tiny sneak into his back yard and have a BBQ. Meanwhile, Joan is on a mission to get her son Billy to calm down a little by making sure he's spending enough quality time with his wife Danielle in the bedroom.
Billy's father Sarge, goes on strike when he finds out he's the only one in the office without a shiny new nameplate. Sarge's strike turns out to be more trouble than it's worth when his leisurely afternoon takes a turn for the worst when his boat breaks down. This is the least of Billy's worries as his wife Danielle has cleared his schedule so they can spend quality time together...working out with a personal trainer. Meanwhile, Chubby spends the day decorating his new desk, and trying to find a nameplate for Sarge.
Chubby convinces Billy to finally take a day off to de-stress and sets up a fishing trip. The relaxing trip ends up being just as stressful as a day in the office when Billy tries to teach Chubby how to fish. With the boys away, Danielle whizzes through her work and decides to try and spend some quality time with her mother-in-law, Joan.
Tiny and Chubby are sent to Brooklyn on a wild goose chase for a piece of paper in Brooklyn. Meanwhile, Billy is called away from work to help his mother fix a light bulb. But before Billy knows it he's spent the entire day entertaining his mother. With Billy and Joan busy bonding, their respective spouses Danielle and Sarge spend the day picking up the slack, which includes teaching Sarge how to walk the family dog.
Billy is not happy after he finds out Chubby has been neglecting the clean up of a job site. But Chubby can't worry about work when he has a novel to write! Sarge is also not worried about work, as he is having some problems keeping track of his TV remotes at home. Meanwhile, Tiny tries to celebrate his one-year anniversary at the company by buttering up Billy and asking for a raise.
Due to dangerously cold temperatures, Billy begrudgingly gives everyone the day off. Chubby takes the opportunity to relive the good old days with Billy. This leaves Danielle to call the 80 field workers and let them all know to go home, but luckily Tiny offers to help her make those calls--and offers up some gossip on the company's employees. Sarge and Joan pick up the company's secretary, Carina, and treat her to lunch during which Joan's crush on the production crew is revealed.
When Billy comes down with a fever and the flu and requests soup, Danielle and Joan compete to see whose recipe will be the most healing. Meanwhile, with Billy and Danielle out of commission, it's up to Chubby to keep on eye on all of WJL's work sites. Unfortunately, Chubby's van breaks down and he has to rely on Tiny for a ride. Sarge is asked to bring Billy his briefcase, but that simple mission turns into a fiasco when Tiny stands in his way.
Billy issues Chubby an ultimatum--stop wearing shorts to work, or risk losing your job. Chubby turns to another big man, Tiny, for help in finding a place with something stylish. Meanwhile, Billy's kids have the day off from school, and Billy wants to teach them the value of hard work by bringing them to WJL for the day. It finally hits Joan that she's going to be on TV, so she asks Sarge to take her and Danielle shopping for a few new outfits.
