A bomb explodes in a country club where foreign delegates and ministers are meeting. The police receive a mysterious call that a bomb has been planted at a bus interchange. The bomb explodes in the middle of the night. Are the two related? Special Investigations Section officer Chong Yee Tat investigates.
The Police receive a live transmission of a masked hostage tied up beside a bomb-like device. The video taunts the Police to find the hostage within 24 hours.
The Police manage to discover the perpetrator; an adolescent who planned the series of bombings. Yee Tat feels that the public has taken the safety and peace in our country for granted.
Two bodies are found in Orchard Road and in a forested area. They both belong to Indonesian maids, and both suffer strangulation rules. The police finds out that one victim's boyfriend is escaping by boat, and a pursuit ensues on the water.
Coastal Patrol Craft Commander Cheng Ling arrests Matius with the help of the STAR team. Yee Tat recalls a dismemberment case from before, where a victim suffers due to his carelessness. Matius' refusal to plead guilty pushing him to lecture Matius.
Car bombs go off in succession, and recently widowed Qihua becomes a suspect. His wife had committed suicide after learning of his infidelity. Depressed and in debt, Qihua is fired from work and hides from his debtors. Yew Jia questions his son Yongjian, and finds that he seems to be hiding something.
Qihua is proven innocent. His neighbor Yu Tianbao turns out to be the real arsonist. It is revealed that his grandson died from a hit-and-run accident a year ago. Tianbao set fire to the same model of cars that ran over his grandson.
Cheng Ling joins the Special Investigations Section and works under Yee Tat. She encounters a gun murder case on the first day, where the victim Yongtai's house was burgled clean. His wife reveals that 10 years ago, Yongtai brought home a large sum of money. Someone had asked him for a loan the day before his death, but was rejected. Cheng Ling suspects revenge.
One of the burglars Wu Gong is arrested, and pushes all the blame to his accomplice Tou Feng. He claims that Tou Feng's attempts to fund a business was rejected by Yongtai, and decided to kidnap him for ransom. They later got into a fight, and Tou Feng killed Yongtai in a fit of anger before robbing his house.
Tou Feng dies in a shoot out with the police, but Cheng Ling notices that Tou Feng is left-handed, with a misshapen right hand. The murderer of Yongtai is a right-hander. Wu Gong turns out to be the killer. In another case, a girl reports being molested by a police officer, and indecent photographs were taken. The Special Investigations Section begins investigations.
Jinliang admits to receiving free sexual favours from Zhang Yao in exchange for setting her free. He was frustrated after breaking up with his girlfriend Meiqi, and accepted the bribe in a moment of folly. After multiple rejections from Meiqi, he sought Zhang Yao again, and was ultimately arrested.
Two cases of girls being abused by police officers were discovered consecutively. Their nude pictures were made public on the web. One girl, Liting, attempts suicide. From the pictures on the web, Xinyi discovers that the girls share the same characteristics, and suspects the cases are linked. Upon questioning, Liting reveals that she knows the suspect.
Architect Tiansheng is murdered. Before his death, he was separated from his wife and was fighting for the custody of his 7-year old daughter. Yida discovers that Tiansheng had appointed his daughter as the beneficiary of a large insurance payout. If his wife had become the custodian, she would receive the payout. Yida suspects a motive.
A woman Lixuan is murdered the same way as Tiansheng. Her boyfriend Zhiming had never met Tiansheng, nor have Xinhui met Lixuan. The cases appear to be unconnected, but Xinyi suspects a link. Yida and his team finds a visually-impaired man with clues based on an ez-link card.
Weizhong is shot dead by Guixiang, and Wenxiong dies in the line of duty. The police discovers that Xinhui had financial problems, and seduced Weizhong into killing Tiansheng in order to become her daughter's custodian. Zhiming uncovers the ruse, and threatens Xinhui to help kill his girlfriend after their relationship turns sour.
Xinyi deals with three cases of suicide consecutively, and feels for these victims who chose death over life. Yaojia feels that suicide is an act of cowardice. Xinyi recalls the concern Yaojia displayed towards her, and is grateful.
Xinyi's grandfather is robbed, but is rescued by the office thief Ah Qiang. Patrolling officers Guixiang and Guohuang give chase, but Ah Qiang scrambles to get away. When Guixiang wrestles with the actual robber, he recalls Wenxiong's death. The robber manages to get away when Guixiang hesitates.
Yaocheng is on a date at a hotel, and sees Yaojia coming in for an investigation. Yaojia discovers that Chen Donglai is a technician with the hotel maintenance team, and tries to arrest him. He is ambushed by Donglai's accomplices. Yaocheng rescues Yaojia, and the brothers mend their fences.
Xinyi is abducted when she investigates a kidnapping. Yaojia is worried after hearing Situ Yan's view that Xinyi is being held hostage. The kidnappers plot to kidnap Lian Shi En's daughter during the World Security Summit. The police arrive in time and shoot the perpetrator dead. Mastermind Zhengyuan tells Xinyi that he will initiate Plan B.
Zhenyuan negotiate with the police for Lian Shi En, threatening to kill Xinyi. Yaojia replays the footage, and realises that Xinyi is trying to send a message. He attempts to figure out her location, but to no avail. Cenling points out that Xinyi could be referring to another place, and the various divisions sets off. With the clock ticking, will the police be able to find Xinyi and negotiate the crisis?
Liao Xinyi received a message while out patrolling informing her that a National Service man named Jay had obtained a rifle and was threatening to kill his girlfriend, Jess. Xinyi rushed to inform Jess about this but got injured by the ricochet bullet…
Yaojia and team found a decayed corpse after they busted an illegal gambling and prostitution ring in the forest. The deceased, Sun Xiuqing, used to work for an investment company. Lantian discovers that Xiuqing’s death may be linked to his ex-wife’s current husband, Zhengwei.
Zhijie questions Zhengwei and Zhengwei admits to the extramarital affairs but denied killing Xiuqing. Lantian found a summon of Zhengwei beating the red light at Yuqi’s house. After careful investigation, it was confirmed that Xiuqing was with another man at the petrol station thereby proving Zhengwei’s innocence. He is released as a result.
Lantian takes up Zhijie’s challenge to find a mate. She gets to know psychologist Chen Yanjun as a result. Yanjun’s chivalry leaves a good impression on Zhijie and they hit it off well. Zhijie thought that Yanjun will choose her as his partner but it turns out otherwise and that leaves her puzzled.
Xinyi arrests Fan Jianming when she is investigating a serial rape case. When she goes through Jianming’s photos, she discovers that some of them belong to her friend Keqiang’s girlfriend, Sini. Xinyi realises that Sini used to prostitute but struggled to tell Keqiang the truth.
Xinyi brings up Sini to Yaojia but hesitates about revealing the truth to Keqiang. Yaojia advises Xinyi not to interfere in others' affairs. Sini bumps into Xinyi at the police station while assisting in an investigation. She tells Xinyi her reason for turning to prostitution and pleads with Xinyi to keep it a secret.
Guohuang’s fiancée, Ailin is murdered. He suspects Jiahao is the murderer but Jiahao denies it. The police find some evidence at Jiahao’s hideout but after Lantian’s close examination, Jiahao is found to have spoken the truth. This frustrates the team members who are bent to help Jiahao find the killer.
Yaojia and Xinyi suspect that it could be the same culprit who killed Ailin during their investigation into a serial assault case. Guohuang is devastated when he finds out that the killer is not Jiahao. He frantically runs to the hospital to ask the victims of the serial assault cases if they got a clear look at their assailant.
Zhiheng , Xinyi, Yongzhe and Coco go to the park to play Frisbee. Max secretly instigates Yongzhe to assault Don. Eyewitnesses claim they saw a few youngsters fleeing the crime scene and Yongzhe and his friends are brought to the police station for questioning. Yaojia finds Yongzhe suspicious when taking his statement.
Zhiheng suddenly receives a call from Coco claiming that she was raped by Yongzhe. Zhiheng and Xinyi rush to the scene but find no one. Situ Yan is surprised when she finds out that Yongzhe is involved in a rape case. She questions Yongzhe but he denies any knowledge of the case.
Zhengwei continues to indulge in gambling and even resorts to borrowing from loan sharks who have come knocking at his door. Unable to tolerate his gambling habits, Yuqi asks for a divorce. She packs up to leave but Zhengwei stops her. In a moment of fury, Zhengwei pushes Yuqi and she gets hit in the tummy.
Zhiheng does not hide his fondness for Xinyi and even declares to Yaojia that he would have courted Xinyi if he knew her much earlier. Yaojia is afraid that Xinyi might leave him for Zhiheng and decides to propose to her. Xinyi sees that Yaojia is sincere in his proposal and agrees to marry him.
Jingming confesses that he killed Zhengwei as a result of the robbery and leads the CID to the forest to look for Zhengwei’s body. Zhengwei’s body is highly decomposed and his strange postmortem positions have the CID speculating why he did not seek help and instead walked back into the forest.
Zhijie confesses to Lantian that although she and Yanjun are in love, she does not have much feelings for him. In fact, she feels that Yanjun seems to be hiding a lot from her. Lantian encourages her not to give up.
Yaojia escapes death and Xinyi shows even more concern for him. Jimmy knows that Xinyi likes Yaojia a lot and brings her to see Yaocheng who suffers from cerebellar atrophy. Xinyi finally understands Yaocheng is the reason Yaojia wants to break up with her as he is afraid that he may be a burden to her.
Yanjun is a suspect in Stanley’s case and is questioned by the police. He admits to meeting Stanley that day and was given a sum of money. Yanjun insists the money was a loan from Stanley and not extorted from him. He also insists he did not push Stanley down the building. The police find a sum of money was transferred into Stanley’s account but are unable to prove that it came from Yanjun.
Lantian and Zhijie bumped into Zhijie’s ex-boyfriend and his wife. Zhijie’s ex-boyfriend thinks she is still single but Zhijie says she already has a boyfriend. Lantian plays along and Zhijie is grateful to him for bailing her out and the two finally get together.
Lantian is afraid of Yuqi’s feelings for him and explains to her his relationship with Zhijie. He makes it clear that he only treats her like a friend. Yuqi begs Lantian not to leave her. She seeks Zhijie out and tries to harm her.
Zhijie investigates a child abduction case and finds that all evidence point to Yanjun’s patient, Anxing. She believes that Anxing not only killed her sister but is also involved in a few recent cases. Lantian smells a rat and finds more damaging evidence against Yanjun…
Zhijie thinks Lantian has gone after Anxing but it appears he has gone missing. Zhijie suspects something is amiss. Lantian awakes to find himself tied up in a wood factory. Yanjun appears and confesses his misdemeanors. Can Zhijie save Lantian in time?
Guixiang is on patrol when he meets two suspicious-looking police officers. When he questions them, they draw their guns. They are, in fact, Thai assassins posing as police officers. Yaojia and Jinshan rush to the scene. Qingwa trips and blacks out. In a condominium unit, Tang Jiefu is killed. Zhijie suspects the killers were the fake police officers. She finds it strange that the two men seem to have killed Jiefu for a small amount of money and jewellery. Zhijie conducts a search of Qingwa’s house and finds he had bought two sets of police uniforms. Qingwa comes round and claims the two Thai men had wanted to rob Jiefu. Lantian, who is now with the Specialised Crime Division, delivers evidence to Zhijie. Cigarette butts found in the motel room indicate that one of the suspects is a heavy smoker.
Zhijie nearly gets attacked while shopping. Her stalker is none other than Chen Yanjun who had previously committed many murders and believed to be dead. Disfigured and vengeful, he returns to seek revenge on Zhijie.
The Police Intelligence Department obtains information on Yan Jun’s illegal entry into the country. Yaojia and Zhijie think that he may appear at his mother’s funeral. Special Investigation Section officers lay in ambush near the funeral parlour where Zhijie discovers Yanjun’s brother, Yanli, using his mobile phone to film the funeral procession. She suspects him of sending the clip to Yanjun and rushes to find out the recipient’s location.
Lantian’s friend, Zhongzheng, is suspected of engaging in illegal prostitution and is brought back to the police station for questioning. Zhongzheng denies the claim and defends himself by stating that the prostitute he was visiting is his long-lost daughter Hongxi. Hongxi refutes Zhongzheng’s claims by declaring that she is not his daughter and that they had sexual intercourse.
Yanjun escapes into a forest with Zhijie and Xiaoyang hot on his heels. Zhijie orders Xiaoyang to stay put and inform the HQ, but her impatience in capturing Yanjun causes her to fall into his trap instead. Yanjun knocks Zhijie unconscious and threatens Xiaoyang at gunpoint, taking Zhijie with him.
Zhijie manages to escape but suspects herself of being raped by Yanjun. She wishes to tell Lantian but is unable to do so. She learns from the Internet that most pedophiles are unable to have normal sexual intercourse with adults and thus consoles herself with that thought. She deletes the emails and photos Yanjun sent her and decides to put this unhappy incident behind her.
Wati, a domestic helper, is discovered dead in a water tank at the rooftop of a HDB block. The coroner discovers she was pregnant at the time of her death. Spider Ming (Wang Yuqing) becomes the prime suspect of this vicious crime as he had previously threatened to kill Wati and is arrested by Zhijie. He denies killing Wati and mentions that Guixiang is her son, surprising Xiaoyang.
Lantian learns from a private investigation company that his birth mother is Luo Lulu, the owner of a pub. Lantian visits the pub and gets discovered by Zhongzheng who happens to be visiting Lulu. Zhongzheng manages to warn Lulu of Lantian’s identity as a policeman in the nick of time. Lantian is unable accept Lulu’s flamboyant ways while Lulu is skeptical of Lantian’s real motives.
Xinyi is ecstatic to receive a tennis racquet autographed by her idol from Zhiheng and suggests playing tennis when Yaojia asks her out. Yaojia has a bitter taste in his mouth when he sees Xinyi treating her racquet gifted by Zhiheng with much care. However, she sees someone...
Jelly advises Guixiang to reconcile with Xiaoyang when she discovers them having problems in their relationship. Guixiang decides to break up with Xiaoyang as he is unable to meet her expectations.
While researching for leads in the dismembered corpse case, Zhijie discovers that Zhizhi’s frequent point of contact is Jinhong. Jinhong becomes a prime suspect when his DNA matches the samples found at Zhizhi’s home. She subsequently discovers Jinhong has a twin brother Jinhua and it turns out that he knows Zhizhi as well. Zhijie is worried the case will turn complicated should both brothers have the same DNA.
Lantian suspects Zhijie is pregnant when she is nauseous upon coming in contact with eggs and asks her to go for a medical checkup. Zhijie is pronounced as pregnant much to Lantian’s joy. She is less enthusiastic as she suspects the baby is Yanjun’s as Lantian is diagnosed as possibly being sterile.
Zhongzheng overhears Jimmy being hounded by loansharks over the phone. Upon hearing Jimmy needing money for his son’s illness, Zhongzheng writes him a cheque. He learns that Lantian’s team has been investigating into a case of fake credit cards.
Jelly asks for a salary advancement from Lulu but her request is denied. Zhongzheng immediately writes her a cheque to help her out. He leaves a good impression on her when she learns that she looks like his first love and that he was the one who recommended her to Lulu.
Lantian and Zhijie bump into Lulu and Jelly at the columbarium. Lantian tells Jelly he was visiting his father when she quizzes him. After Lantian leaves, Lulu is shocked to discover that Wei Fuqing is his father, which makes Lantian her son.
Spider Ming forgets to pick Guifa from the tuition centre after playing mahjong throughout the night before. Guixiang discovers evidence of a car accident while on patrol but is unable to find the car and victims. He spots Guifa’s brand new water bottle and suspects he was hit and becomes even more worried when he is unable to contact Guifa at home.
A tired Guixiang searches for Guifa everywhere but to no avail and is comforted by Jelly. Guixiang sees Spider Ming distributing pamphlets to look for Guifa and chides him bitterly. Spider Ming slaps Guixiang, causing a further rift in their relationship.
Xinyi and Xiaoyang discover the identity of the foreign worker hit by Yonglun. Zhenting learns from Xinyi that the foreign worker led a life of hardship, causing her to feel even more remorseful. Xinyi discovers Yonglun’s shoe print matches the print found near the abandoned corpse and suspects Yonglun and gang has something to do with the accident.
Zhenting sustains serious injuries from her fall. Her parents lash out at Yaojia for accidentally causing her fall. Xinyi manages to nab Shi Yiyuan but he denies his relationship with Ding Youpeng. Everyone suspects Ding Youpeng to be a drug trafficker for a big drug ring.
Zhenting dies of her injuries. Her aggrieved parents decide to take her ashes back to the United States. Yaojia arrives to pay his last respects only to be chided by Zhenting’s father. Unable to face Yaojia over Zhengting’s demise, Xinyi decides to break off with him.
Zhongzheng gives a sum of money to Jimmy for his daughter’s operation on the condition that he provides classified information on the police operations. Jimmy agrees to the deal for the sake of his daughter’s operation. Xinyi witnesses Zhongzheng giving the cheque to Jimmy.
Lantian plans an operation to arrest Kaiwen at his hotel. Jimmy warns Zhongzheng of the operation and Kaiwen manages to leave the hotel in the nick of time. However, he is accosted by Spider Ming outside the hotel. Spider Ming drags him to his van and the pair struggles, causing an accident. Xinyi manages to recover the van but discovers that Kaiwen is dead.
Zhijie discovers someone with a pair of shoes matching the shoe prints found at the crime scene visiting Kaiwen at the hotel on the same day. Lantian recognizes the same pair of shoes he saw before he was knocked unconscious on the day he tried to arrest Lulu. He is alarmed that both cases may be connected and starts to suspect Zhongzheng.
Zhongzheng is arrested and he denies all allegations against him. He maintains that he only gave the money to Jimmy for his daughter’s operation out of sympathy. Zhijie and Yaojia release him due to the lack of evidence. Lantian warns Zhongzheng that he will arrest him personally if he is ever found to be guilty.
Lantian trails Zhongzheng to the warehouse and a gunfight ensues. Lantian loses his gun in the process but manages to snatch the evidence from Zhongzheng and advises him to surrender. Just when Zhongzheng contemplates on doing so, Dehai appears and attacks Lantian. Meanwhile, Yaojia and Xinyi assume they will die in the freezer. They bare their feelings to each other, before Yaojia passes out...
