Amjad is stopped regularly on the road for a security check by police and does not understand why, because he thinks he looks like the average Israeli. Meir tells him that it is because the Subaru he drives is considered an Arab car. Amjad decides to trade in his Subaru and gets into trouble with the owners of the chop shop. All this is going on while Amjad the journalist has to explain in the media why Arabs are involved in more traffic accidents
Amjad moves from the news desk to the magazine. The editor asks him for a colorful, sexy piece. Amjad is not sure and deliberates until he hears from his father about a very special sheep who understands what the soldiers say. Amjad makes up an interview with the sheep, and becomes a hot item on all of the local and international television networks. Amjad finds himself in a bind and does not know how to get out of it.
Amjad understands that it is time for his parents to stop babysitting his daughter every day and for her to go to kindergarten and broaden her horizons. At first, he tries an Islamic kindergarten with a good reputation in the village. The little girl becomes religious, and Amjad decides to look for a strictly kosher Jewish kindergarten for her. He tries several options and encounters expected and unexpected difficulties.
After Amjad and Meir interview the Arab Miss Israel, Amjad heads home leaving Meir to take pictures. Riding back to the city alone, Meir believes he is being kidnapped by his Arab taxi driver and his cronies. The driver struggles to understand Meir's pleas in Hebrew to spare his life, and thinks his erratic passenger needs to go to the bathroom. Meir calls on Amjad for help when his clueless driver "locks" him in an outhouse. Amjad and his father set out on a rescue mission to free Meir from his "kidnappers".
It is the week of Passover. Meir meets with Amal, an attorney and friend of Bushra. He invites her to the Passover Seder. Amjad is also invited along with his wife and children to the home of a reform family whose son goes to kindergarten with Maya. Amjad is enthusiastic about the Seder ceremony and decides to adopt the concept of the Haggadah into Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice).
Amjad is called into the police and asked to help supply information to the security forces. He gets very scared and tries to find a way out. His mother-in-law, who just moved in with them while her apartment is being remodeled and, as always, manages to annoy Amjad, will be his way of giving the GSS (General Security Services) what it wants.
Amjad interviews the leader of a new political party that advocates a repartitioning of Israel between Jews and Arabs. Amjad, who is not at all sure of which side he wants to be on in this new partitioning, goes to a psychologist to find resolution. Now the story starts getting really entangled.
Bushra honks at a BMW that is blocking them in, and Amjad is afraid that he is about to get into it with one of the village criminals. He goes up to them to apologize for his wife’s honking and gets into even more trouble. In the meantime, Meir is beside himself with jealousy because of a Palestinian student who is courting Amal.
Amal wants to meet Meir’s parents. Meir, who is afraid of the meeting, hires substitute parents who will play the role of his very left-wing parents, who have no problem at all with the fact that their son is in a relationship with an Arab woman. Amjad invites Bushra out to a fancy restaurant frequented by Jerusalem’s elite, and ends up in a mess with his neighbor, the dishwasher at the restaurant.
The race for the money reaches the delivery room. A known millionaire declares that he will award a million Israeli shekels to the first baby that is born on Independence Day. Bushra and Amjad compete with the Chen couple on who will give birth first.
All Amjad wants is a decent morning shower but a problem in the water pressure in the apartment above his parents' home drives him crazy. While he visits Meir, Amjad finds the light as he's exposed to the water flow in a Jewish neighborhood. Amjad decides to fight the municipal council in demand for "An equal water pressure for Jews and Arabs" but only gets a demolition order against his illegal constructions. The order serves as an excuse for Amjad to fulfill his dream and he buys an apartment in Meir's building in a Jewish neighborhood.
The Alian family members move into their new apartment in a Jewish neighborhood. Amjad goes out of his way in order to carefully plan the move and impress his new neighbors from his very first day in the building but everything goes wrong. His main problem is the parking tickets Amjad keeps receiving every three hours because he's not allowed to park in the street yet. He tries to get a local parking permit from the municipal council but understands that in order to do so he must change his address at the population registry department, infamous for its long lines. In exchange for payment, the mover, who has connections at the department, promises to arrange a parking permit for Amjad that would put an end to all of the parking tickets. He takes Amjad's I.D and sets out. The mover then becomes involved in an accident and is suspected by passersby for planning a terror attack. He flees his vehicle, leaving Amjad's I.D on one of the sits. Amjad, the new neighbor, turns into an instant suspect.
The neighbors' dogs in Amjad's building act strangely and bark endlessly every time Amjad leaves or enters the building. Amjad hears from Meir that dogs can recognize Arabs and bark only at them. Amjad is deeply offended and tries to solve the dogs' barking problem. A salesperson at the pet store explains that dogs can smell the Arabs' fear and that the best way to calm the barking is for Amjad to raise a dog and so stop fearing. Amjad decides to buy a dog but gets into trouble when it turns out he accidentally bought the dog of Timna and Natan, the neighbors from upstairs.
Amjad is losing his mind. It's been a month since Bushra had let him near her. She's too busy with work, studies and the kids and has no sexual desire or strength for Amjad at night. To keep him away, she uses an exceptionally hideous nightgown that Um Amjad bought her. Amjad, who can no longer stand the situation, decides to put an end to the horrible nightgowns. As he tries to purchase sexy lingerie for Bushra at the women's underwear store, he gets in trouble and is suspected to be an Arab pervert.
Abu Amjad decides to be the gardener for his son's building. Embarrassed to leave the house for being the gardener's son, Amjad understands that the only way to fire his father is for him to become head of his building's committee. Amjad sets out on an especially weird campaign to get elected.
Amjad leaves together with Meir for a Purim party, dressed up as a soldier. Amjad leaves the club to smoke and gets kidnapped by two young Palestinians. The kidnappers are shocked and embarrassed to discover they kidnapped an Arab dressed up as a soldier. No one wants Amjad back. No one is willing to pay any ransom for him. The kidnappers find themselves stuck with the worthless Amjad in a desert storeroom somewhere in the West bank.
The Alian family members are invited to a concert in which Nadav, a neighbors' son around Maya's age, plays. Amjad is filled with envy and anger because Maya doesn't know to play any classical music and forces her to play the violin. Along the way, we discover a traumatic childhood event experienced by Amjad who was convinced he was headed towards a promising musician's career before his father prevented the fulfillment of that dream.
Memorial Day and Independence Day arrive. Amjad, who thinks he's invited to light a torch at the traditional torch lighting protesting ceremony in front of the prime minister's house, finds himself committing to light a torch at the eve of Independence Day at Mount Herzl. At the same time, Maya, who is a part of the school choir, is torn between her parents' demand and her desire to be perceived as an equal amongst her friends in her Jewish school. She doesn't know whether or not she should take part in the Memorial Day ceremony at school.
Amjad joins the civil guard in order to protect the neighborhood from a series of break-ins. Amjad turns into the neighborhood's new guard. Armed with a Carbine with which he has no clue what to do, he turns into the neighbors' menace. He acts like a sheriff in the Wild West and the neighbors don't dare to leave their houses when the armed Arab is lurking around the neighborhood.
Bushra has a private clinic in the village. She's very busy, returning only very late. Amjad decides he's a "Metrosexual" until he discovers one of Bushra's patients is Husam, a childhood bully who used to torture him and grew up to be a man's man, rich and charming. Jealousy drives Amjad mad. He's sure Bushra is having an affair with Husam and decides to clear his name and save his honor.
A war breaks in the south ruining the idyll Amjad has finally reached with his neighbors. In an attempt to explain his opinion and the opinion of the Arab citizens of Israel, he appears as a guest in a TV show after which he finds himself giving home to a family of war refugees from Sderot.
Amjad understands that Arabs have a problem with water and that they don't know how to swim. He finds himself declaring in front of his neighbors, Timna and Natan, that he does know how to swim. Amjad joins swimming lessons and finds out his situation is much worst than he thought. The Russian swimming instructor has a revolutionary trick to teach even Arabs how to swim but the trick doesn't work on Amjad, who accidentally causes the instructor to drown and is accused of attempted manslaughter for racist reasons.
Amjad receives an offer from one of the TV networks to host a new TV show in Arabic. Amjad, who's always dreamt of appearing on TV, begins to fantasize of a bright future in which he would change the face of the Middle East. Convinced he's the first Arab in prime-time, he discovers he's supposed to host the show dressed up as a bunny.
אמג'ד שאחרי האח הגדול הופך להיות כוכב. הוא מקבל הצעות עבודה מכל כלי התקשורת בארץ ומיוצג על ידי סוכן מוביל. אלא שבדרכו ממסיבה בה הוא לגם יותר מדי בירה הוא נאלץ לעצור את הרכב בצד הדרך ולהטיל את מימיו. אמג'ד הכוכב הופך לאויב העם כשהוא נתפס משתין על אנדרטה בעלת ערך לאומי.
אמג'ד מוזמן להרצות בבית הקונפדרציה וחולם על קריירה חדשה כמרצה מבוקש. אלא שיום לפני ההרצאה הוא נדבק בתולעים וחייו הופכים לסיוט.
יוסקה ויוכבד נואשים מניסיונות אינסופיים למכור את דירתם על מנת לעבור למודיעין ולהיות יותר קרובים לנכדים ולכן הם נאלצים לקבל בברכה הצעה ממשפחה חרדית שמעוניינת בדירה. השכנים מזדעזעים מהרעיון של התחרדות הבניין ואמג'ד הוא זה שלוקח אחריות ויוצא למלחמת חורמה כנגד זרים לא רצויים בבניין
אמג'ד הנאור מוזמן לנאום ביום האישה הבינלאומי על תפיסת עולמו הפמיניסטית שבזה לערכים מיושנים דוגמת כבוד המשפחה. במקביל הוא מגלה שילדתו הקטנה מאיה מתחילה להתאהב בנדב, בנם של השכנים נתן ותמנע. אמג'ד הנאור יוצא מגדרו אל מול הזוועה שמתרחשת בתוך ביתו.
צוות של ערוץ הטלוויזיה האנגלי מגיע לארץ במטרה לערוך כתבת התלוות עם אמג'ד. אמג'ד חולם על קריירה בינלאומית שתבוא בעקבות הכתבה ב BBC. אמג'ד מספר לכתבים הזרים על האחווה והדו קיום בה הוא חי עם שכניו היהודים, אלא שהוא מגלה כי העיתונאים האנגלים דורשים דווקא גילויי גזענות ומחפשים סיפור על הקושי בלהיות מיעוט בתוך החברה הישראלית. אמג'ד יוצא לחפש קצת גזענות ומוצא אותה דווקא בחנות למכירת עוגיות.
בעקבות הערה של תמנע השכנה, לפיה אין ערבים צמחוניים, מחליט אמג'ד להיות הערבי הצמחוני הראשון והופך לסמל המאבק למען זכויות בעלי חיים. במקביל מחליט אבו אמג'ד לפתוח מסעדת בשרים במרכז המסחרי בשכונה בה מתגורר בנו הצמחוני
אמג'ד שומע ממאיר כי "ערבים עושים רעש". הוא מתחיל להשתכנע שערבים הם קולניים ומרעישים ומתחיל לדבר בלחש. במקביל, הוא מנסה למצוא פתרון לבעיה כשיום הולדתו של אביו, שמתוכנן להיערך בבניין, הולך ומתקרב.
עולמו של אמג'ד עומד להיחרב כשלשמי התקשורת הישראלית עולה באשיר סולימן, עיתונאי ערבי, חד ונושך, שהוא ההפך המוחלט של אמג'ד. באשיר מותיר את אמג'ד המתפשר והפחדן מבודד ומחוסר עבודה עד שאמג'ד מחליט להשיב מלחמה על מקומו בתקשורת הישראלית.
אזעקה עולה ויורדת באמצע הלילה מורידה את כל דיירי הבניין למקלט. אמג'ד ובני משפחתו מוצאים את עצמם נאלצים להתגונן כמיעוט חשוד כאשר בחוץ, ככל הנראה, מתנהלת מלחמה.
