数年後、陸一心はさらに奥地に送られ、内モンゴル自治区で羊飼いをしていました。草原で日本からの帰国華僑である黄書海と知り合い、日本語を習います。破傷風にかかった一心を徹夜で看病してくれた巡回医療隊の看護師・江月梅との出会いもありました。一心から自分の境遇を養父母に伝えたいという思いを聞き、江月梅は陸徳志へ手紙を書きます。息子の冤（えん）罪を知った養父は、息子のために北京へ出向きます。
A few years later, Lu Isshin was sent further into the countryside to work as a shepherd in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. On the grassland, he met Huang Shouhai, an overseas Chinese returnee from Japan, and learned Japanese. He also met Jiang Yue Mei, a nurse in the traveling medical corps who nursed Isshin through the night after he contracted tetanus. Hearing Isshin's wish to tell his adoptive parents about his situation, Jiangwolmei wrote a letter to Lu Dezhi. Upon learning of his son's false accusation, his adoptive father went to Beijing to help his son.
