誕生日のお祝いに自分を描いて欲しいとアロアに頼まれたネロ。しかし、約束の日にネロはジェハンじいさんの代わりに、村中総出の牧草刈りへと出かけなければならなくなってしまう。ネロの牧草刈りは、アロアをはじめジョルジュやポール、アンドレの手伝いもあって、順調に進んだ。仕事を終え、約束の絵をやっと描き始めるネロ。ところが、それを見たアロアの父・コゼツは激しくネロを叱るのだった。
