When Mana visits GeGeGe Forest, she finds Kitaro and Ratman arguing over something trivial. They each declare for the I-don't-know-how-many-th time that they're cutting ties with each other. Meanwhile, in town, the water has been contaminated sending everyone running around looking for drinking water. No one knows why the water is polluted, and no attempts at purifying it work. Kitaro believes that the one behind the pollution incident is one of the Four Generals of Betrayal. Kitaro begins an investigation, but doesn't know how to stop the pollution of the water. Meanwhile, a survivor of the Way of the Demon Society, Isurugi Rei, begins to move again...!?

まながゲゲゲの森を訪れると、鬼太郎とねずみ男が些細なことをきっかけに言い争っていた。両者は何度目かわからない絶交を宣言して別れる。 一方街では水が汚染され、人々が飲料水を求めて奔走していた。原因はわからず、さらに汚染水はどのような浄化装置も無効だった。鬼太郎は一連の汚染騒動の黒幕は、大逆の四将の黒坊主ではないかと推測する。調査を開始する鬼太郎だったが、水の汚染は止まることを知らなかった。その頃、鬼道衆の生き残りである石動零もまた動き出していて…！？
Kitaro e Homem Rato brigam mais uma vez e se distanciam. Após a inauguração de uma represa, toda a água do Japão fica contaminada se tornando vermelha escura. Kitaro acredita que isso só pode ser trabalho de Kurobozu, um dos Quatro Generais da Traição. Pouco tempo depois, Homem Rato aparece vendendo um purificador de água, o que faz crer que ele esteja envolvido com o yokai maligno.
