JULIA trains with her good friend and coach FLORIS. Her goal is to join the Young Orange hockey team. NAJIB visits his brother NASR who is in prison. Nasr asks him to collect money from a number of COLOMBIANS. Najib and Julia don't know each other yet, but that will change when Najib comes to the shop where Julia works later that day. Immediately it clicks between these two young people and Julia helps Najib to find clothes for his brother and discovers that Najib works as a pizza courier. That evening at the hockey club, Floris tries to make it clear to Julia that he feels more about her than friendship, but Julia is not interested and decides to order pizza; at Najib. When Najib brings the pizza, Floris becomes jealous. This almost leads to a scuffle between Floris and Najib. In the bustle, Najib's moped falls on Juliet's foot. Najib watches how Julia is taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Julia broke her ankle and is in the hospital. Najib asks his sister HAFIDAH to go to the physical therapist with their FATHER so that he can look for Julia. Julia's father ALBERT and his best friend and fellow detective JOOST, who is the father of Floris, think that Najib is to blame for the accident, but Julia takes it for him and explains to them that it was Floris who argued. Najib finds Julia in the hospital and visits her when Albert, her mother EEFJE and Floris are there. Albert first tries to prevent a fight between Najib and Floris, but when he hears Najib's last name, he is startled. He appears to know Nasr, the brother of Najib, and becomes nervous. He decides to visit Najib at home.
Albert confronts Najib and orders him to stay away from his daughter. Later Najib calls Julia in the hospital to say goodbye. Julia is furious about her father's interference and tries in vain to change Najib's mind. Joost also appears to know Nasr and seems to get nervous from the contact between Najib and Julia. Albert and Joost visit Julia and tell her about Najib's criminal brother. They try to convince her that Najib is also in the drug circuit. Through a clever trick, Julia lures Najib to the hospital. Najib does not deny that his brother is in prison, but clearly that he is not a criminal. A jealous Floris is watching the two kiss each other and agree not to be chased away.
Floris wants to take Najib's heel, but he is beating the wrong man. Najib's colleague breaks his wrist. When Najib finds out, he tries to call Julia in vain. He does not know that Joost, who seems to be getting more and more nervous, had the phone removed from Juliet's room. He decides to write her a letter. Najib visits Nasr and tries in vain to find out what is going on and why there is so much resistance to him. Nasr says nothing to understand and gives Najib an order to collect money from the Colombians. When Nasr receives a visit from Joost later, the two seem to know each other. Joost wants Nasr to ensure that Najib stays away from Julia. Julia is discharged from the hospital and leaves home to read the letter she has received from Najib to her parents, who will find out what Floris has done. Nevertheless, Albert continues to forbid Julia to see Najib.
Julia orders pizza and when Albert opens the door, Najib is standing in front of him. He reluctantly let him in and despite Najib, he became somewhat charmed by himself. Albert and Eefje invite Najib to come back later for a further introduction. When Joost hears this, he is startled and decides to follow Najib for a while. The further introduction is going well; Julia's parents are impressed by the intelligence and humor of Najib. Najib and Julia are overjoyed if Albert and Eefje give them permission to keep seeing each other. Things are different at Najib's home; he knows that he will have to conceal a relationship with a Dutch girl.
Najib and Julia enjoy each other and are becoming more in love. They do not realize that in the meantime Joost seems to be doing everything to get them apart. He visits Nasr again, who has to put more pressure on Najib. And he makes Najib and Julia shadows. He also took pictures of Najib when he comes to collect money from the Colombians. With this he knows to convince Albert that Najib is a drug dealer. Albert informs Julia of Joost's suspicions. Julia refuses to take Joost seriously, but nevertheless begins to doubt when Albert shows her the pictures.
Najib has a hard time; his family has heard rumors that Najib has a Dutch girlfriend, but he denies this. Julia confronts him with Joost's photos and asks him if he is a drug courier. Najib explains that he only collects money for his brother. Together they conclude that Joost is fooling around. Julia also wants to know if he has already told his family about her, Najib explains that that is not possible; his eldest sister LEILA has also been rejected by the family because of a forbidden relationship. Najib and Julia realize that despite their love for each other, a relationship may nevertheless be impossible.
Najib and Julia choose each other and decide to keep seeing each other. Albert, set to think by Julia, asks Joost if he might have had anything to do with the drug trafficking of Nasr. Joost denies this, but he does say that he once took money from Nasr and is afraid that it will come true. Albert is stunned and when he is gone, Joost, in a panic, orders Najib to be beaten. Najib receives heavy blows, threatening that his brother will be the next victim. Najib, fearing the life of his brother, decides to close a deal with Albert; in exchange for his brother's transfer, he will break with Julia. They get one night to say goodbye. Julia understands what Najib is afraid of, but don't leave it at that; She investigates, discovers that Joost has more than thirty e.g. s owns and confronts him with this. Joost realizes that he is not out of trouble yet.
Julia calls Najib and convinces him to go away for a weekend together. Najib wants to surprise Julia and takes her to his uncle HUSSAIN and his Dutch wife. Julia is disappointed; she wanted so badly to be alone with Najib, but in the end they are well together again. In the meantime, Joost is trying to sell all his real estate to go abroad with the money. The Colombians, whom he seems to know, put a stop to that. Joost panics and finally decides to tell Albert the whole truth: At the time, he and his informer Nasr independently traded lots of cocaine. Albert decides to take charge of the matter. He had Nasr brought to the police station. Albert promises Nasr transfer in exchange for information. The Colombians will also be arrested. For security reasons, Joost moves into a hotel. He is relieved that the Colombians have been arrested. He does not know that one is still free.
Najib and Julia are relieved; everything seems to be over. But if it turns out that Nasr has not been transferred yet against the appointment, Julia confronts her father at the police station. But Albert doesn't really want to talk to her and Floris blames her for his father's demise. Najib visits Nasr and the brothers have a penetrating conversation about their family and about their rejected sister Leila. To Najib's surprise, Nasr has known for years where Leila lives. Albert finds a dead Joost in his hotel room; killed by a remaining Colombian. Floris is visiting Eefje and hears the news from her. He furiously rushes to Julia's room where she is with Najib. Julia realizes that Floris has lost everything and decides to go to her parents' boat for a few days. Najib is coming. They are happy despite everything.
Najib makes decisions; he tells his mother about Julia and that he knows where Leila lives. He wants to go to Lille with his mother to visit his sister. Father may not know anything; he would never approve. Julia insists on coming. Najib and Julia make up a list; she will present herself as the wife of Najib's uncle. But on the way to France, Julia cannot restrain herself and Najib's mother tells us who she is. Najib's mother says she will never accept her. They all visit Leila, who turns out to have a son Albert visits Nasr; he wants to know why Joost was killed. The two get into a fight where Albert Nasr gives a kick. It hits hard; Nasr's spleen tears, he becomes unconscious and is taken to the hospital. When Eefje hears this and Albert refuses to inform the family of Nasr, she does this herself and brings the family to the hospital.
Hafidah calls Najib in France and tells him to come back immediately; it's very serious with Nasr. Leila is coming to the Netherlands and is accepted by her father again after the necessary hesitations. Albert is sent by Eefje to Najib to inform him about the events around Nasr. He says it was an accident, but it should never come out that he is responsible. Julia hears from Najib that her father is to blame for Nasr's coma and that he still wants them to break up. Julia breaks with her father. Leila invites Julia to come and eat with the Najib family; she thinks they should finally be open about their love. Eat at the table. No word is said. Julia gets spanish and says in Arabic that she loves Najib and leaves the room. Najib hesitates for a moment, but then follows her.
Both Najib and Julia have to make the most difficult decision of their lives. Do they choose each other or do they choose their families? We can only hope that there will be a happier end for Najib and Julia than for Shakespeare's Romeo and Julia.
